RE: Audi A1 Quattro price
Discussion
Don't get that. Buy my S3 instead, it's 42.6% of the basic price and doesn't have DRLs.

The FIAT 500 Ferrari Tribute is £39,995 and is just a red FIAT with Ferrari badges, this at least is a proper car with a bigger engine.
Agreed! It will probably be the fastest production hatch available for a short period!!!! I can imagine it will produce some where in the region of 237 Bhp/ton. With 258lb ft torque on tap pulling that, plus occasional 4WD, this machine has all the ingredients to embarrass cars twice it's price! This car will be a success, and sell out instantly! Harrods Mini £35K
Ferrari 500 £40K
There must be a market for these over expensive supermini's or they wouldnt make them.
If you have the cash and you need a small car then why not have the best available at any cost?
When means are not an issue and if i had to work in London and the Astons just not practical then i'll be first on the list for one off these super superminis!
If this is true it's just another example of Audi taking maximum advantage of their customers'loyalty to rip them off. 34k for a supermini!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since 2008 my wife has had a TT 3.2 Roadster(bought for 33k sold for 18), and an S3 Black Edition(bought for 31k, current value at 12 months old is about 23k) and has her eye on one of these S1's.
She wouldn't even consider another brand after the appalling mini cooper s she had before the TT and the equally rubbish peugeots and fords before that.
I think the LHD issue might be a deal-breaker, though - so that should save me a few grand!

It's not even fast!!
when was 0-60 in 5.7 ever slow?plenty fast enough for the traffic and roads of today.
...wouldn't pay £34k for one though...some will though
5.7 doesn't really cut it, does it?
Still, if people will buy them...
(I also happen to think it looks a bit 'Halfords' same as I feel about the RS3)

Quit moaning about the price and appreciate mental limited edition cars instead.
If more companies did stuff like this instead of playing it safe and forever producing the white goods drivel that they usually do then the car world would be a much more interesting place.
Yes you could have so many other things for the same price but the person buying this won't be thinking about those other cars.

Hmmmm, if you want a rally rep you could have that or a brand new FQ360 and £4-6k in change. Hell, Mitsu Managemant had a 1 year old FQ400 with minimal miles going for not much more recently.
What, exactly, makes Audis so damned expensive? This is a serious question. That car will not have any better an interior quality than the basic A1 that costs £13k. It's engine and drivetrain is from the rather creak and hardly state of the art S3, so where do they get such a ludicrous price from?

It will be a great classic in years to come too.

It does 0-60 in 5.7 secs despite 4wd. I think your figures might be slightly off. The extra drivetrain weight seems to mean it's barely faster than the S3 and Golf R. I suspect the WRX STI hatch will remain the fastest production hatch, especially in 320R and "we can't sell them even at a loss" CS400 Cosworth thingummyjig.veevee said:
really though, nobody is going to buy this, its a girls car. youd just buy an s3 if you were that was inclined.
If these were available in RHD I would be having one to replace my Polo GTI. I don't want a car the size of the S3/Golf etc, I just want a small hot hatch, this is perfect for me. Hopefully the Polo R will be available soon, I'll make do with one of those instead.
