Where does the £50k price come from? What options is it missing as standard? Chances are it will come with leather, nav and xenons etc standard not really sure what else people are expecting.
will be the usual audi stuff, 2k for buckets, 2k for custom paint, 2k for custom leather inserts etc etc

biggrin

Agreed! It will probably be the fastest production hatch available for a short period!!!! I can imagine it will produce some where in the region of 237 Bhp/ton. With 258lb ft torque on tap pulling that, plus occasional 4WD, this machine has all the ingredients to embarrass cars twice it's price! This car will be a success, and sell out instantly!
It does 0-60 in 5.7 secs despite 4wd. I think your figures might be slightly off. The extra drivetrain weight seems to mean it's barely faster than the S3 and Golf R. I suspect the WRX STI hatch will remain the fastest production hatch, especially in 320R and "we can't sell them even at a loss" CS400 Cosworth thingummyjig.
Yes the Subaru is the most powerfull production hatch but, will it be faster at only 200 bhp/ton?! It certainly won't be as agile! I think the A1 will out gun the S3 and the Golf R.

Not me but there is one in the next Village, I pass it as he is pulling into his driveway most nights...great looking car among all the grey and silver going the other way.

Hi there,

One in the car park at Silverstone on Friday

The little writing at the bottom of the number plate said "1 of 333".

Does look pretty neat. But presumably those wheels aren't using the same kind of tech as Porsche and so forth with the large splined hub / single nut, and are just alloy wheel centre caps which look similar..?

Missed this topic the first time around...

Having seen more pictures and read the Evo review - I really want one of these, now!

Can't put my finger on it, exactly, but it just looks so good compared to some of the more mundane hatches out there, added to the spec and (apparently) the quality of the handling and feedback and it seems like a great car to me.

It's definitely in my fantasy garage as my 'small car', despite the price!
