Looks like fun but, being a well built chap, I would look like the Gorilla from Mario Kart.

run away!.... anyone tempted should have a look at www.karting.co.uk/mp and save a lot of frustration!
100cc karts are just awesome fun though, having something rev to 18000 rpm that close to you is mental. you can pick up a reliable, well sorted kart for £500 and with some careful planning, and from experience, they fit in the back of a mk3 fiesta!

Great festive idea but those 3 karts are TROUBLE!! They'll swollow more money over the next 3 months than they're costing now, those air cooled engines need frequent rebuilding (some after only 40hrs) and by the looks of them i'm guessing they just havent! Then theres spockets (1 or even2 a meeting), chains & tyres and are needing replacing every couple of weekends. I learned the hard way unfortunately, a tidy well minded water cooled Max might cost more to buy initially but would be far cheaper to run in the longish term. Or as Johnpeat already said just wait for all your friend to get tired of theirs.... Bargain!!
40hrs! Closer to 40mins fella!

Three knackered karts for a grand? Not exactly bargain of the century is it?

I've got three wrecked karts and a couple of wrecked engines, i'd happily flog them for a grand, they will cost you well over that to rebuild and then you won't actually be able to race them (at least not competitively).

As someone said earlier by a rotax max and have far less headaches, you'll also really appreciate the electric start. Especially when you get punted off, means you can actually rejoin your session and get revenge!

If you think these old 100cc karts are fun, I bought a very old kart fitted with a yamahaha YZ125 6 speedie box, great fun, I highly recommend karting from full time racing to 1 or 2 fun days as I call them - practice days, I use Blackbushe and the guys there are great always helpful with knowledge, ideas spares etc and always willing to help out another karter if in problems.

Warning before buying - Please visit your local track and spend a day there as these are not toys and when you see upto 30 on a 900 metre track, all driving levels from learners to life time racers, it can be crazy - great fun but crazy

Very poor shed imo. I ran one of these once for a couple of years and frankly it was awful. Ride quality was terrible, every time it rained you'd get soaked and it was absolutely awful on the motorway. It was a nifty handler I suppose, very cart-like, but I'd probably not go there again.

This was what I asked for Christmas 36 to 40 years ago.

My Dad was deaf to my requests. He preferred boats >:-(

I used to race karts from 2000-2005 and i have to say along with a few other PHer's that the best kart to get is a Rotax kart. A few weeks ago i hard a test day with a team just for fun and to get back in the seat for about £200. That included a full day's testing 10-4 open pit lane, no bulls*** just getting in the kart and going as quick as you can. I would highly recommend this to all of you and you will not be disapointed by the shear speed and grip these things have! If anyone is interested PM me and i will give you some more more info and the number for the person to contact.

Ryan.

I had one when I was a kid with a 200cc Villiers engine and a unpadded seat....

The thing absolutely scared me to death.

You guys are missing the point, the family fun you an have on 3 go-karts is unbelievable. We have 3 cheap chinese 4 stroke gokarts and a dirt track round our 5 acre paddock. We spend hours out there sliding around together as a family and extended family and neighbours, no need for Playstation or the Queens Speech.

I fear this karting may not go as well as planned.

Are they both direct drive 100cc or has one got a clutch?
Is the starter the external type?

Looking at the pictures it looks like some of the bits have been thrown together, one of the air boxes isn't facing the way it normally would,.
Having bought similar a few years ago I suggest you check every nut and bolt is tight.

Local track insist on kart suit, boots, gloves and helmet but also that the karts have chain guards, and the silver end can on the exhaust is in place with the holes pointing downwards.
