RE: Pic of the Week: Alpine Renault on the slide
Friday 23rd December 2011
It looks unlikely to be much of a white Christmas this year, but a seasonal POTW without snow is like Brussels sprouts without gravy - unpalatable.
Pic of the Week: Alpine Renault on the slide
Xmas POTW comes with more snow than we'll be getting this year
Thus we present a snowy, slidey festive pic of the week.
We've (sort of) made it topical, too, since it's a matter of a mere couple of weeks until the Monte Carlo rally (whence this tail-out Alpine comes). And, of course, a Renault reference is topical in light of the 10 model lines the French car maker has just axed form its UK range. Clutching at straws? Us?

Discussion
Don't forget the perfidious french disqualified the Monte Carlo Rally winning car one year for illegal spotlights, it was a Mini and after disqualification the winner became- a Citroen. We don't forget you France with your ugly dwarf and bankrupt state and the way you apply rules.
Since Napoleon they seem to be your only comfort-Bah Humbug! Merry Christmas to all Pistonheaders!

Love these cars they are so ugly / beautiful. The interior of the road versions are just so beautiful the dials look like they were made by a horologist. I know it is not the same but these cars inspired me in 1989 to buy a brand new Alpine GTAV6 turbo in stratos blue. i loved the car and the fact that nobody knew what it was even though after extras it cost me £33,000 which was a lot of money back then and similar price to a new esprit turbo or new carrera 3.2

I am a big Apline renault fan infact I have a A110 1600s for sale if anyone is interested?!!
My Dad has had it for 15 years stored in his garage, he only drove it a few times as he said he never felt at ease in it, like it wanted to throw him off the road, which i have put down to the wrong tyre pressures as it does seem a little sensitive to pressure, once right its a joy!! It was our plan back in the day to do the British historc rally championship in it but it never happened, it also also had a weird electrical issue which i have now cured ( dodgy master switch), so i dragged it out the garage last year and gave it some TLC and Sorted the issues and got it reliable. Has been my toy ever since but i am told i cant keep it and it is indeed for sale!!
I love driving around in her,Has more than enough power to hang the tail out as in the video!! Sounds awesome too!! Everyone has a soft spot for it even those weirdos that dont care for cars love it!! For its age it still feels very nippy and fun to drive!!
Its very original other than a full cage, full underbody guards and sparco seats. ( I think she needs some more period ones) Being fibre glass the paint has aged alot which is a real shame.
