That's not very "green" is it?
Making higher emission cars travel further. Higher emissions should be closest to the entrance of the car park and Prius parking as far away as possible.

Most people won't even know what tax band their car is. What a retarded idea.

What's this...... ASDA you speak of? wink

Seriously though, this is ridiculous. Who the hell comes up with this?

Doesn't bother me though. I find that the kind of people who need to park inches from the door are not the kind of people I want to park next to anyway, from a door denting point of view. And at risk of adding to the sweeping generalisation, IME drivers of A & B band are less likely to be petrol heads or even care about cars and more likely to drive into your car or key it or something so I'm happy at the far end of the carpark thanks!

I may be special but my logic stands. Less distance for higher emissions=more green.
Am I still drunk and missing something obvious?

Distance to drive to the front door > Distance to just enter the parking area.

The Linked Report said:
ASDA says it was forced to set spaces aside at its Handsworth store for ‘green vehicles’ which can cost £18,000 or more. It was a condition of planning consent by the city council when the car park was altered.

They have been doing this in the US for a while. My sister has a hybrid so that applies. It is a 4.0 V8 hybrid, but even so... hehe it is a silly thing.

So what happens if you go in your gas guzzling evil SUV during a busy period like, oh say Christmas, and there are lots of free spaces in the little car area, but you're not allowed to park there?

Are you seriously supposed to drive around and around the car park searching for a space whilst spaces sit empty waiting for a little car to turn up?
