211hp TDV6 is offered in Belgium (and probably some other EU countries too). It's basically the same 252hp V6 engine, but electronically limited. It's cheaper to run a sub-211hp car, due to the tax rules here (which may change in a few months, as they're going to tax cars based on CO2-emmissions, and then it won't make a difference aymore)
Available in other countries then but not the UK at the moment, I think it would sell well if it was.

Err, no.

Go drive a 2.7 TDV6 Sport and report back on your findings.

Having tried the new SDV6 I'll admit it's a good engine in the RRS but I'll still miss my TDV8 when it comes time to swap it out. If for no other reason than the V8 still sounds better!!

3.6 TDV8 wasn't Euro 5 compliant.

Hence it was dropped in Sport at the end of 10MY and FFRR gained 4.4 TDV8 for 11MY.
Ahh, the 4.4 is a stonking engine, impressive it manages 30mpg combined figure in the FFRR. Totally agree they should drop it in the sport!

With the 15bhp increase on the 2012 MY SDV6 the TDV8 was pretty much redundant anyway!

I have driven one and agree it wouldn't be the petrol heads choice but some people would rather the savings than the performance.

Slightly O/T but having owned and driven a good few V8's and 6's (in-line and V), I'd say an 8 also simply 'feels' different.

Wish I could afford one. I am not a huge SUV fan but this and the Merc G thingy are definitely at the top of my SUV list!

With the weight of the car the 210PS engine struggles.

You'll enjoy when you get to do 'Challenge The Brand' as you'll get to drive all the derivatives.

I think its insane how much power is lost 510HP and 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. Whilst it is not made for the likes of straight line performance If I bought one I wouldnt want to be out done by the likes of a Focus ST.
I suspect 0-60 performance is as much influenced by the 2.5 tonnes kerb weight as by any power loss through the transmission.

I've driven a few of these (albeit 2010 and 11 ones)

As someone that prior to that was pretty much never going to want a SUV. They are BRILLIANT. Changed my opinion of them.

Though I'd steer clear of AutoBiog spec as it's a bit garish.

Still think it would be a seller, then again nothing wrong with keeping things simple with the choice of just a couple of engines.

Look forward to 'challenge the brand'!

Hmmm... Yes & no.

The 2.7 was a COMPLETELY different engine but I agree that the SDV6 is a much better engine if you want a more spirited drive. wink

You know i know that.

I was meaning more in terms for performance rather than engineering prowess. wink

Dress it up however you like but RR have forever blighted the marque in pursuit of profit and the baldy-cap aggressive man/dipst orange mummy with big sunglasses image is now seared into people's minds.

You could cover it with teddy bears and sunflowers and it would still be a s car.

My sister is on her third RRS, two supercharged and the latest a TDV8. The running costs of the supercharged are eye watering but boy can they fly! Still if I had spent the kind of money that they cost I would at least like them to be reliable. The last RRSS was so bad that Land Rover gave them a discount (a very large discount) when they traded it in!
