Great car, I had no idea they'd sneaked into shed territory! Good start to the year of shedding.

Didn't one of the car magazines run one of these as a long termer? I seem to remember they quite liked it and spent a little bit of money freeing up a few more horses.
Wasn't that Evo? I believe they are quite tunable.

Just glanced at the classifieds and it does seem that example was particularly cheap. Still, a couple of grand for a more typical example still doesn't sound bad for a leather-trimmed, V6 coupe.

tested this new, comparing to 3.2 TT and RX-8. Nice style, poor drive and felt cheap inside.
But for a bag o' sand it might be a nice cruiser. Dontcha just love unfashionable car depreciation!

Well i found this on the classifieds whilst looking for a cheap winter run around to rest my Alpina B10V8 whilst i do abit work. Am i the only one that come wednesday looks around the classifieds for fun to see whats interesting for £1000? I should get a job at PH!?:-}

As a result I seem to be going through cars quickly having owned 4 in the last 12 months... Im trying for the 2012 mantra of changing your car as often as you change your girlfriend!

Its alot of car for the money, whilst not the most glamorous no one will laugh at you for driving one of these and im certain of selling it for at least the money i paid in the spring.

Lifes more interesting when you shed!

Happy 2012 PHR's

Yeah Evo were going to fettle it with a view to Hyundai releasing a special edition - don't think it ever happened.

On another note, these caused quite a stir when launched, very good looking and not a bad steer. I recall test driving one and being quite impressed (although at the time I drove my mum's Mk1 Punto) and the thing that sticks in my mind is that pulling out of junctions and looking through the left window for traffic, you got a bizarre sense of being in a proper performance car - something to do with the windowline I think. I recall the 6 speed gearbox on the V6 was good to use although the 2.0 5-speed was a bit flaccid. Also while the V6 sounds a bit lame on power, by all accounts its more swift than you'd think - albeit in a cruisey type way.

A mate of mine has the 2.0 version of this, and I quite like it. Ride is ok, seats are comfy and the interior is a surprisingly nice place to be. It makes a decent noise when you give it some as well, so I imagine the V6 would sound good too, even if it is only producing 27bhp more!

Loads of car for the cash, and very tempting...

Given some of the great sheds that have appeared over the years, this one does nothing at all for me.

great shed, I drove the 2.0 a few years ago and it actually wasn't at all bad. Although headroom was a bit limited because of the sunroof (which I think was standard on these?)
Still think these look great and I'm suprised they are now this cheap.

cool

I inherited FILs 2.0 SII model when he passed away, it was an OK hack, but completely dull and uninspiring.

I test drove a SIII V6 and found the thing infuriating. Plus I banged my head getting into the thing.

Although, at a grand its a little more tempting, its still a 4/10 from me.

Wrong dancing donkey, surely.

It's the 456 they copied...

Seem to remember these V6s are fearsomely thirsty. Perfect Shed smile
Lights at the front and grille. But I see your point about the rest of the car...

I've always like these however.....

they only come with 170bhp from a 2.7 V6! Fuel consumption must be terrible without the performance to compensate. FWD too ? Makes it a bit of a style over substance car for me.

maybe not.

I agree about the Ferrari 456 reference. It's particularly apparent from the side view, which is no bad thing in my books.

FAO Riggers

"the S Coupe barely 20 years ago was universally considered to be, well, a bit pony (excuse the pun)."

I had one of these and it was a corker! I had my wife learn to drive in it although she rounded off all 4 corners, it managed 182,000 miles in 10 years, I only sold it due to needing a hatch. It had been around Coombe and Silverstone many many times. It was definately ragged everywhere and let me down once with a knackered battery.

I found one in the classifieds the other day and had to hold myself back LMAO.

After quite a few great sheds this just stands out as really crap. Probably because the engine is so piss weak, but also for a multitude of other sins. Bland, boring and nasty. SOTW is supposed to be about blowing £1000 for fun!

Great car... but wrong wheel drive, which kills the appeal for me sadly

That is a lot of car for £1000. It will be quiet, smooth and good for several years.

I think it has future in the car mod brigade sadly but do you not think that has a reliable and good looking hack this is a lot of reliable car for the money?

I always liked the look of the previous model. Not a fan of this shape.

Still it seems like a bargain for a car that's a long way from bad. Just a bit FWD and not that exciting.

i always thought these would be a good car for under a grand, this model looks a bit dated now,but the newer shape can be had for £5, the silver with red leather looks ok; some people think it looks like a aston martin , ?
