I do like that. Well done! thumbup
  • cough* As the "spotter" and suggestor of a viewing (I didn't like where he was leaning, towards sensible Munich and Wolfsburg outputs) I'm rather pleased with it too!

On my travels yesterday, I also had a look at this Spanish E46 328i Touring:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...

The chap who was selling it was a gent, and an obvious enthusiast. Whilst it might not have been the most minty of minty fresh cars, the condition was by no means shabby. If I hadn't found what I did, there is a good chance I would have been going back to pick it up.

If this is the sort thing you're after, it would be worth your time to look at it. The service history is all in a lever arch file, in document wallets. The seller is a really good guy, so I felt bad not buying it from him.
That does look nice and seller sounds decent, the main problem with that car for me would be a 330 Sport Touring.

thumbup to the 9-5 Aero buyer; you've just had me looking at them again. So much VFM and such small gaps in price between the pre and post facelift and even the later ones with the odd glasses for not much more.

I've got a couple of tape deck adapters lying around somewhere, but I'm not sure they would be a lot of help.
As a temporary measure until you suss out a proper auxiliary socket solution, the cassette adapter + iPod works fine. I've only bought the new adapter because my current one has started transmitting awful noise through the speakers.

the only issue i've found with the cassette adapter and mp3 player is the fact the sound is "mono", it sounds very tinny compared to a cd.

that's in an E38 with the standard stereo, which i believe is the same as in the E39's

Does anyone know of a product that will allow the TVs in our cars to continue get a signal after the switchover? Ideally a 12v digital receiver that rebroadcasts on an analogue channel.

Here's one solution but the discount would have to be massive - http://www.tv-in-motion.co.uk/bmw_Digital_TV.html

What I'm after is someway to connect my iPod to the 4:3 TV had unit at relatively low cost, and ideally someway to hook my phone (blackberry) up to the in car comms kit. Problem is that I can't justify spending too much when the car didn't cost a lot and it's used relatively infrequently.

Having previously been sceptical, I use an FM transmitter and it works a treat, although not as good quality as a proper aux-in. I travel up and down the M4 and never experience any interference.

Have a look at these things, as I believe they'll do the job..

I'm also keen on doing this, but without spending upwards of £100, I've not come across a way of doing so yet.

hornetrider - got a link to the one you use? it is a case of plugging an FM transmitter to the 3.5mm "out" jack on the device, setting up a frequency and then tuning the radio to said frequency?

tdm34 - interesting that. how do they connect up, and where? i'm guessing in the boot somewhere...?? there is a very good car audio place near me in soton and next time i'm down i might take a trip down there. i don't want anything else which is non-standard to show in the interior, for obvious reasons.

thanks chaps!

I'm on my phone so I'll post a link up later. It doesn't plug into the headphone jack, it plugs into cig socket and uses the main iPod connector and keeps it charged as well.

not sure if it's the same in the 5 series, but in the 7 series it's reasonably straight forward if you have the right cables

They connect up to the CD changer socket, and still offer an aux input as well for use
with a DAB tuner etc

I use one of these, but living in London, FM is very crowded, so a bit of a PITA.

Works well out in the sticks. Mine is a Belkin one.

how does this look?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-FM-Transmitter-Univ...

not worried about charging since i get a good 16-20 hours of playback on my unit but looks like it should do the job, yes?

and these generally offer better sound quality than the tape adapters? if so, i'll order one tomorrow morning.
hmmm....depending how long the cable is i wonder where i could route it so i have the player near by without cables running all over the place scratchchin

thanks again chaps!
