If that's the case, the big Nissan will be a poor substitute imo.

For what it's worth, the Nissan does nothing for me personally. Sure, it's reputedly a very capable machine, but I get the impression that the Ferrari has a bit more of a sense of occasion. Oh, and let's not forget, the F355 is utterly stunning (especially in TDF Blue).

Nice MR2!party

F355.

Not going to depreciate and an amazing feeling every time you get into the drivers seat.

The GTR will be mind blowing but i expect you'll have to drive it very hard to get the same satisfaction from it that the 355 will provide from even catching a glimpse of it sat on your driveway.

My dream car BTW!

Plus despite being a Nissan i think running costs won't be a million miles behind the 355.

I own a Nissan (not GTR) so may be biased towards them, but I've always loved ferraris. Either car would be awesome, but what you looking to get out of the car? Wknds only?
The GTR will be infinitely more reliable and you'd be able to use as a daily driver if you wanted. The Ferrari I suspect would have to be a wknd/summer toy.

I think it's every petrol heads dream to have a Ferrari one day. Perhaps go for that, but I think you'd be better off using it wknds only. My boss has one and on his trip across Europe he loved the engine etc but there were parts of the interior falling off etc.

If I could afford to run both cars as normal drivers then the F355 would be surrounding me.

The GTR is an immense car, but it's no 355.

Forget all this rubbish about it 'being a Nissan'. Any car that can lap the Nurburgring in seven and a half minutes is never going to be cheap to service!

Further to that, I suspect Skyline servicing isn't cheap either.

big fan of the GTR myself, its looks the absolute dogs danglies from the back (which coincidentally is usually the only bit you see as it blasts up behind you from nowhere and vanishes), but I'd still go hand my money over the man selling the 355. Buy the Ferrari.

The question is

What do you want it for?

Being a tedious pub bore then skyline

For enjoying then the 355

For balls out speed and driving thrills then neither

I've had both cars. I loved both but for me the GTR wins overall.

Assuming running costs weren't an issue and I had a daily driver then it I'd decide on the F355 quicker than I could type it.

Been looking into my first Supercar, but cant make up my mind.
Always loved the F355, now older are alot cheaper.
Then theres the spaceage GTR,but is only availble in semi auto.

They are both around the same price, apart from servicing.
The ferrari's a dream, but hassle, were as the GTR is modern, but still a nissan.
Your thoughts please???

Cheers
You've said it. One is a dream, the other is a Nissan. May be a far better car but it will never have class. And if you buy one you'll still hanker after a Ferrari.

I agree and that was the point I was trying to make.

The 355 is notoriously expensive to maintain (say compared to a 360) and the GTR is beginning to go the same way. It'll get worse once they're out of warranty and people actually start whinging about the cost of replacement parts etc.

More complicated bits = bigger bills IMO.

Off to the classifieds for my daily 355 fix...

355 they are only getting older, the GTR is recent so you could scratch the Ferrari itch and still be able to get a new or newish GTR as your subsequent car purchase.

Comparing chalk and cheese really, the 360 is much more comparable, in which case i'd choose the ferrari every single time.

the F355 is special, simple as that! My example is that a close friend of mine has an f355 and I've been in it several times, my current and previous car (tuned 996tt and tuned sl55) are definitely faster (we've tested this wink)

but neither of mine are anywhere near as much fun. The feeling down the back of your spine when you nail the throttle in second gear and the sound cloud9
add to this that its one of the best-looking cars in history (some say the best),
I would buy one in a heartbeat if I had the capital and a few grand spare for maintenance etc,

Interesting dilemma to have!

As has been said, two very very different cars, in all respects.

Is it going to be a weekend toy or a daily driver?

If it's a weekend toy, 355 I think yes

If I could afford a F355 and a GTR, I would have two F355's. One red one yellow.

Buy the Ferrari its what you really want , you can buy the nissan later .
And how much nicer is thinking " I'll take the Ferrari" compared to " I'll go in the Nissan "

you only live once , apparently.

If you want to impress yourself, get the Nissan.
If you want to impress everyone else, get the Ferrari.

The Nissan is the better car, the Ferrari is the car to better impress others with.

Despite me saying I'd go for the 355, I'm quite disappointed how many people are choosing the 355 because the other option is a Nissan.
