Ferrari F355 Vs Nissan GTR
Discussion
As pretty as the F355 is, I think a lot of people are getting carried away with the artistic ideal they held when they were younger. The reality of the F355 is that it maybe isn't quite as good as you believe it to be. With the GTR, I think the opposite probably applies in that people have a belief of what they think it's going to be like - a robotic, charmless rocket - and the reality is much, much different.
If you want to fulfill a childhood dream, buy the F355.
If you want a proper balls-in-the-pint-glass driving machine, get the GTR.
By no means assume that I'm underplaying the weighting of the childhood dream. There are still many, many poster cars from my childhood that I want to own some day and I probably will, despite their obvious dynamic inferiority to other options.

Ive really opend a can fo worms!!
I think trying the 355 now and maybe a GTR in the future sits well.
Dont get me wrong Im a nissan fan, had silvias, 300's ect.
They are all great cars, but modern day stuff is a little soul less.
As someone else mentioned the gearbox is a downer on the GTR (unreliable too ive been told). Paddles are a very nice gimmick, after all the 355 was the first production car to have them, but they have the worst residuals. I think its a nice thing to try, but not as special as actually driving the car as it should be.
Porsche have just brought out a 7 speed manual, the paddles i think is really to reduce warranty claims from joe bloggs trashing the gearbox day one.
I think the 355 has it by a nose, and when i win the lottery, the GTR can be my daily drive :0)
Thanks for everones input!!

For me it'd depend on when and where it's going to be used. If it's going to be pampered in a garage, sat on a trickle charger ready for the odd sunny day it'd be the Ferrari. If it's going to be used a lot then the GTR.
I'd imagine that the Ferrari's probably a better financial bet if that's a concern. I can't see them going down much more in value whereas the GTR still has a long drop ahead of it.

355 they are only getting older, the GTR is recent so you could scratch the Ferrari itch and still be able to get a new or newish GTR as your subsequent car purchase.
This man has the right idea. The 355 won't lose much money so buy that and in a year or two swap it for a similarly bottom of the curve nissan.

Despite me saying I'd go for the 355, I'm quite disappointed how many people are choosing the 355 because the other option is a Nissan.
Another one with no garage listed!Don't worry, there are plenty of GTR drivers out there sneering at you in any event. It's probably because of the notion that 'it's only a Nissan' that they're so well priced (when you consider the performance).
I'd probably take the Ferrari, but only because I've driven some great mid engined cars in the past, and I love the idea of a low seating position with a powerful engine working behind your head, whilst having those mid-engined handling dynamics. That was something I wanted in my day to day car, so I went out and got something that satisified, and I'm sure the Ferrari would do the same.

He is disapointed with other people choosing the Ferrari because the GTR is a Nissan, not himself.

You turn up to an event and people ask you what car you drive.
You can either say a ferrari, and you need not say any more, although people will undoubtedly ask you for more information/and or sex.
Or you could say a nissan GTR. Only men will know what you are talking about, and lets be brutally honest here, one of the main reasons for having a supercar is so you can drive natalie portman to the oscars, not drive steve the local mechanic to the queens head for a pint.
plus, you can lie in bed at night and slowly whisper to yourself: "I have a ferrari, I have a ferrari, I have a ferrari, I've accomplished my childhood dreams"
Or you could lie in bed texting steve the local mechanic about how quickly you took the roundabout on the m69 northbound and how you had a race with a porsche and won.
This changes when random people see you driving down the street though, people see a 355, at best think you're a cock, or if they know a little bit about cars they think it's an MR2 You can either say a ferrari, and you need not say any more, although people will undoubtedly ask you for more information/and or sex.

To the uneducated a GTR is just a nice but understated coupe.
I personally would take the GTR, but but I've not driven either so have no real bearing to offer an informed opinion.
Actually that is a very good point. If you don't want to be hated for no other reason than the fact you have a ferrari, buy the GTR!!!!

My point being, why be disappointed in people buying a Nissan? If they want to buy the car it's their choice, and certainly not a bad one!He is disapointed with other people choosing the Ferrari because the GTR is a Nissan, not himself.
