£20 ticket for me (MSA license holder) and got back to the car park expecting to pay £8 but the barrier was up.
Pretty good show if you go on the trade days with the engineering bit, lots to see and plenty of people to talk to.

On a side note I went to the heritage centre at Gaydon on saturday for the Historic rally car register open day. It was free and very busy, lots to see there too including some very nice old rally cars.

Funniest part of the show was seeing the Quaiffe guys having to listen to 10 gearboxes being banged through the gears by the public hehe Metal on metal clinking for 10+ hours a day....

Well, did the show today and it was OK. Signage was a challenge (ended up somewhere else when I wanted the Arena (did the 0930 one and it was embarrassingly empty (Plato said so himself!!)). Was entitled to a free baseball cap, which I had to go to the media centre to get and it was like the Spanish Inquisition. Parking was miles away but managed to not have to pay after a friend gave me a spare exhibitors pass. WD40 stand was good though... lick

Made the trip over from Northern Ireland for the first time. What can i say, never seen anything on a scale like that before, so much to look at - didnt know which way to go. My head was scrambled by the end of the day!lol Great to see so many cars, most of which you could have a good nosey round, and nice to get talking to some folks at the trade stands.

Live show was a bit of a let down though, there's more diffing action in any town over here on a saturday night. Why did it take about 3 minutes to introduce every section, and then they do 3 laps and just clear off? Far too much faffing about, the commentary took up at least half of the show, and i didnt hear a single word of it. The stunt bikes were great, loved the noise of the drift cars (but again far too short), and the transit banger racing was a good bit of craic, but the rest of it was just so so..

Overall it was a rather expensive weekend given the travelling costs, hotels, show tickets etc etc but having said that, i had a great weekend.

The only reason I went down to the live show arena was because I'd paid for it in with my ticket price. 10 minutes after it started I left and made my way over to register as a buyer for the Coys auctions - much more interesting.

Did you buy anything? I picked up some automobilia, but there were no bargains in the cars auction. £80,000 for a Metro 6R4 driven by Ayrton Senna - and it didn't even make reserve? They're having a laugh

As a pervert, the highlight for me was a couple of the Maxxis girls, the things i would do to them. You'd need a forklift to pull me off 'em biggrin

In all seriousness, i got shown around the BAC Mono and had a sit in it, very impressive piece of kit, just trying to figure out residuals on a car like that in order to make an informed decision Re: a possible purchase

I bought the five DB7 posters in Automobilia. Was after some other bits but they all went over what I was prepared to pay. Could have afforded the electric car but nothing else in the car auction!

Nice - I picked up the 2x Le Mans AM posters, the Jacky Ickx signed photo and, er, the Aston Martin ties - coming soon to an auction site near you!

Hi all, Agree with comments on the live show, we paid for a pre booked ticket, so got entry, and live show, did the 3:30pm one, and overall dissapointing, although nice to sit down for an hour!! :-) that plato and louise race thing was very poor!! TIFF would be glad not to have his name to that anymore!! Plato must have been a bit gutted!

Senna Display was very good, nice selection of cars, well presented and displayed, spine chilling video on display (senna film/documentary) and well worth buying if you like proper F1 from back in the day.

Pistonheads show was good, with a Good selection of supercars, good club stands and some trade stuff.

All in all worth the 2.5 hour drive, parking a bit of a con! £8!

top girls on the maxxis stand! although i'm not a perv!! lol biggrin

I couldn't be arsed to wait for the Senna display - everytime I walked by the queue seemed to go on forever.

Probably makes me out to be a dick! Although I've been saying I'll take my Son to the Donington collection so will make up for it by seeing the cars there.
