My father once offered his remaining hour to another driver & he didn't expect his generosity to be met with verbal abuse & comments about scum who swindle the council out of money.

Can't quite see that drivers logic; sure the council has lost money because they haven't been paid twice for the same period of time rolleyes

It does rather depend on what the scheme is for - if it's for limiting the number of cars, then there shouldn't be a problem with it. If on the other hand it's all about revenue, then it would be an issue. It'd be best to ask your council which one it is. smile

I have met with this response, suggesting my kindness was an act of fraud on the council. I have stopped.

hy does this always come up? Do you really only ever criticise anything if you can do better yourself? Didn't think so.
Agree - it was perhaps uncalled for. What didn't you think so?

I just think it was worth reading regardless and to sit there and call it drivel seems a nonsense.
It's his opinion, that's all. (and mine, tbh)

Don't stop, simply explain that you choose not to allow the council's rudeness to erode your politeness.

I hear you, but in the daft world we live in I am not convinced it is worth the hassle for the principle at stake. That's being a tad defeatist and I plead guilty to that, but will save my energy for a more worthy cause.
