just sold the Cerbera, any ideas about which car i should get next, one that would compliment my Tvr Chimaera.
i am enjoying trying a few different cars at the moment. my car budget is about £20k, i have 3 cars plus a company smart car, well i had 3 cars lol. any suggestions on what i should try next to see if i can find another "keeper" to go with my Chim, and i dont mean a panzee lol, so sensible suggestions welcome, my budget would be £10,000 max,i dont want a scooby or skyline, so far my thoughts are, 350z, slk 55, boxster 3.2s.vrx, monaro, any suggestions, must be sub 6.0 seconds and a lot of fun

I'm thinking along the same lines that a Vauxhall Monaro would compliment my Chimaera nicely as a daily driver.

The other option for me is to sell both my daily and my Chimaera and get a BMW Z4M Coupe, an E92 M3 or a Cayman S. Problem is that I wouldn't have a soft top for summer driving.....

Either way, one of those three should be available for 20k - perhaps not the M3 just yet.

That mini is crazy. Not sure if I could even get in it lol.
I can't afford an m3 or cayman unless I sell the tvr which I'm not going to do, so ten grand or less will have to do

How about a 2003 on XJR (aluminium body & supercharger) awesome piece of kit, get one with all the whistles and bells and service history.... That'd surely impress the missus Lester ??

Hi chilli, yes I nearly bought one of those last year. The xjr might be a bit similar to the 850 I jus sold, what do you think?
Have you tried one

If you want a fun car I think the problem is a lot of the middle-weight two seat roadsters are going to feel a bit tame or a bit samey next to the Chim. I'd go for something different. The Maserati suggestion isn't bad for a big GT, a little roller skate like a Caterham would represent the other end of the scale and then there are any number of classics to consider.

I just think anyone who's committed (crazy? smile) enough to have had two TVRs in the garage might find something like a 350Z or SLK a bit underwhelming, however good it is.

Actually, that said, what about a 911 of some description? That's a very different experience to a TVR and a very usable proposition.

BMW M3 CSL if you can get a good un for £20k, I wouldn't mind one of them.

I've driven both the Boxster 3.2s and 911 c2 and found them both to be rather boring to drive, neither felt special or fast, my Audi A8 4.0tdi actually felt faster because it delivered maximum torque from 1,200rpm. However both are very good cars and very usable for a daily driver, even though it was slower I considered the 911.

Compared to my Cerbera both feel just like any boring German hatch\saloon, if the A8 4.0tdi had a manual gearbox I think it would have been as much fun.

Get a Monaro - a good laugh - cheap to run (not petrol) but reliable, make a good noise, big grin factor, animal like.

yes
And for your budget, you could get the very best condition VXR500, assuming one comes up for sale of course!

Hi Lester no I haven't driven one, but I have been checking them out recently, and you can get an awesome amount of car for not alot of money. I recall Clarkson driving one IIRC from John o'groats to Lands end non stop (alledgedly) to experience it as a very rapid yet (relatively) economical long distance cruiser. Whilst we all have our own opinions on Clarkson the car did stack up rather well. I have a soft spot for the big Jags, I had a 420G many many years ago, and about ten years ago I had a brief fling (owned for about six months) with an XJ12. The 12 was a S3, my favourite shape... fab car, but I couldn't really afford to run it back then (had just gone through a divorce).

Just like the idea of the big cat with the blower......

An XJR and a Chim would be a bit like beauty and the beast biggrin
