Ooooh yes please!
In white, with slight window tinting, lowered and stiffened rolling on 16" BBS split rims!

Come on , someone get busy with Photoshop and create it.

I was contacting VW about this a few months ago, annoyingly deleted the email. They were pretty certain they wouldn't make an UP! GTI, so I suppose this is a compromise

Will be interesting to see how it is priced against the new Suzuki Swift Sport. The suzuki has 134 bhp, 6 gears (maunal) and weighs around 1050kg.
True, but the Suzuki is in another class, it's a massive car in comparison

Nope, it needs 15/16" wheels, no wider than a 195 or so, decently supportive front seats, a mill that works hard at high revs and a decent induction bark.

If Veedub can keep it to around 1000kg too it'll be awesome.

Agreed.
Could easily be a re-born pug 106 Gti equivalent, and a propper little city blitzer.

As an old scottish friend used to say when he has his 106 Gti, "yee'll have me on the straights, but i'll do ye on the roond-e-boots"

Yeh the swift is more polo class I think and the polo has the twin charged 1.4 180ps lump in the gti guise.

I like this. Allways fancied a lupo gti.

+ 1. Looked for a clean LupoGTi of a long while, but it is an old car now and the new offering is tempting.

A Twingo looks the better prospect imho. 133bhp, NA power etc.

I'm glad VW are making it. Whats the betting its DSG only though?
Why is the Twingo publicised so much? Yaris 1.8 SR 133bhp N/A 980kg, factory lowered and stiffened suspension, 17" alloys, and all different bumpers/exhaust to the other models. Released around a year before the first Twingo... Also, the Twingo's interior was hidious.

Wonder how much it'll cost. The Lupo GTI was £12k+, had 125bhp and reached 60 in 8.3secs. This car could be as quick, if not quicker but still, at least according to VW, not be worthy of the GTI moniker. Also, remember that Adidas Golf GTI special edition they had in Germany? Something 'funky' like that would be pretty cool on a city car like this.

I've driven the Yaris and the interior is awful the performance is even worse. How it can be so light with so much grunt yet be so slow is almost a mystery the only thing i can think is that its got a worse drag co-efficient then a bus.

As someone who likes small lightweight quick cars I am glad to see the junior hot hatch class emerge however i still have seen nothing that tempts me away from spending my usual £10-13k on something second hand.

If they do a 5 door Up GT it could be a worthy successor to my Panda 100HP.
Exactly what I was going to say. If they could capture the fun factor of the Panda, it would be a great car.
+1

5 doors distinctly lacking at this level.

Interior layout is terrible but the build quality is great for such a car. So slow? confused This is one of the few cars where I would say the paper figures have it all wrong.

Theres only one way to settle this, who has a Yaris and a Twingo? hehe
