RE: Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 gallery dribble

Driven a Stang and the new Camaro. Camaro is an infinitely nicer place to sit and to drive. I doubt the low volume, low rent Shelby will worry them too much at GM, against this.
Everyone likes to compare Mustangs and Camaros objectively, but I think the cars have always been comparable enough that discussion is moot for the vast majority of people who actually buy and drive them since Ford people buy Mustangs and Chevy people buy Camaros.Reardy Mister said:

the 650bhp Shelby wont worry this? have you really driven either or are you one of these I have seen a pic so its the same thing as driving people? ps Shelby out sell dodge and chevy put together The Camaro is based on the GM Zeta platform which is also the Holden Commodore, Pontiac G8, Vauxhall VXR8 etc, so it was originally designed as a RHD platform. Doing an RHD version of the Camaro wouldn't be very difficult as all the bits are already being made for that platform? Weird why they don't?
On another note, I got a free upgrade to a Camaro Conv. in Detroit the other day (was only the V6 but it went very well) and I really liked it. I thought the interior was pretty cool and it didn't strike me as being particularly low quality. It was very roomy and I found it very comfortable.
It also rode well and the handling was also pretty sharp. Definitely not a wallowy boat and it felt good on bumpy, bendy back roads, and at speed.
In comparison to the various old merc E-class derived Chrysler cars (300C, Challenger, Charger, Magnum etc) it felt a much more modern, complete and properly developed car. The Chrysler equivalents felt very old school and several generations behind.
My money would definitely be on the GM products as they are based on a far superior platform to the outdated Chrysler equivalents.

Fair point (Swerni aside). I'm a GM person so would probably buy the Chev, even if it was inferior. Chevy did a lot more than just give the ZL1 horsepower. They made it into a really good handling car, which is amazing considering it's built on the Zeta platform. Ford stole their thunder anouncing the new Shelby will have 650 hp, but the Camaro is more than just a rough brute. This link is a comparison between the ZL1 and the Boss 302, which is the best handling Mustang.

Which reminds me I saw a brilliant article in [I think] Time Magazine whilst waiting at the Canon Service centre in LA to drop my camera off. The magazine was a few months old so others may have seen it but the article was about Fiat taking over Chrysler. I was particularly amused to see the Chrysler management comment that they were excited to have Fiat on board to improve their build quality! I know build quality is supposedly improving at Fiat, and I haven't owned one since I sold my mid nineties Punto and ex-girlfriend's Cinqucento 10 years or so ago, but my impression from that experience were that Fiats were not the last word in build quality and the subsequent satisfaction surveys etc... have done little to make me think anything has changed!
for everybody complainig about the prices here when compared to US... one easy fact are the taxes and duties..
UNITED KINGDOM
· Duties 0-15% (avg. 4.2%)
· VAT 20%
in US you can check wiki... but usually less than half of what we pay in EU.

I love these, and was in Miami for Novemeber. Saw loads of lesser Cameros and they are awesome. When I say lesser they still have sweet V6's and V8's in them so no shame with them at all and all from around $25,000 its amazing value.
Anyway the really good news for me is I am moving there in May!!!

Thirsty I see where your coming from but the Shelby also has all these upgrades like the electronic damper control etc. What people seem to forget is even the 315hp Mustang GT used to out handle the 426hp Camaro SS even in 2012 and since then its been all Ford. Most mags are expecting the Shelby to out handle and surely out muscle the ZL1 now im afraid but lets see......http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes/1203_20...
