You do realise it's still winter, right? And you're driving around on summer tyres?

But your insurance will be invalid, the car will be undrivable, you'll be prosecuted for dangerous driving, all the world's puppies and fluffy bunnies will be killed.

I brought set of winter rubber before christmas and fitted them in anticipation of the wonderous winter snap everyones scared about, now taken them back off because i feel like a burk without a hint of frost so far. Lesson learned don't listen to the bs stories nor the weatherman or local councils or infact my boss

The wheels look much nicer, but still not as nice as the BBS Monzas from the standard Golf GTI imo.

They look much better but, because I'm feeling like a chav today, not as nice as the optional 19" ones.

Doesn't look that different (or that much better) to me.

A bit, but not much.

I prefer the previous anni bbs wheels.

Also it is a little early to be swapping, we still are in jan. Easily get snow/ice in feb and march!

I preferred it on the old ones. I don't like big wheels, either for the way they generally drive or the way they look.
I agree, looked better on the smaller ones IMO!

Reminds me of a fat kid at school who wears nice trainers and is surprisingly quick in a race, imo VW need to incorporate much sharper lines and angles to get these things to look good again, there is only so much a good set of alloys can do. (Thats my Monday grumble over!)

As I alluded to in the article, that's kinda the point - if I waited until it was properly warm, I wouldn't be able to compare the summer tyre versus winter in a like-for-like situation...

Cue the blizzards - we've swapped the weedy winter wheels/tyres on the Golf GTI for the proper Edition 35 18s
Looks like you are spot on.

The BBC said:
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for large parts of Scotland and England on Tuesday.

Forecasters said rain moving east across the UK was likely to turn to sleet and snow in northern and eastern areas during the day.

They also said ice could form where rain falls onto surfaces with temperatures below zero.

The yellow "be aware" warning covers an area stretching from the Highlands to the east and west Midlands.
Hope the winter tyres are still at the front of the garage!

I bought a new A4 Quattro (TDi Black Edition) in early December - and had the 19s swapped off for winter tyres on 17s before collection.

On the one hand, it irritates me eveytime I get in the car to see the dash readout tell me the temperature outside is 12 degrees C. On the other, swapping the original 19s back on will give me a little treat to look forward to in March.

Plus the Mrs gets some practive kerbing the smaller wheels first...

Discovered last Thirsday night - in an Asda car park turned to sheet ice by a shower and then a sharp drop in temp - that all the Quattro systems and winter tyres in the world aren't going to save you on unbroken ice. Was good fun, though I packed in my antics before I was asked to leave (or had an embarrassing prang on one of the enticingly widely spaced lamposts). smile

1. I definitely think you guys need to invest in an electric impact gun!!

2. I grew up in Chicago, where winter wheel/tire sets are absolutely necessary if you have a rear wheel drive car or any car with low profile sports tires. But, even still a lot of people get away without using winter tires. In London area I could never justify the additional expense of them.

The care looks fab with the proper wheels, but as winter sets go that was not a bad looking set!

(In a German accent...)
"I am not understanding why you choose to have summer tyres on your car when it is clearly not the summer. You English are funny. You are also not wearing the winter clothes in the winter also."
