Porsche 997 c2s.
I completely agree with this; I sold my C2 Cab just before Christmas and I don't think I've missed anything so much...

Or grow some real gonads like Zippee and take your TVR T350 on tour...
Which inciddntally performed faultlessly if I recall?
Absolutely! Fast, loud, in your face and reliable - what more could a man want from a car?
Apart from more noise, so I had it de-catted smile

I'd rather waste time trying to get Porsche to do a recall than argue the toss on here.

In answer to your original question, YES!

I have thought about/researched and mitigated this potential risk and thank you for your concern.

Have you any experience of engine failure in Porsches? Did you have a bad experience? I am genuinely curious if you have and I apologise if I came across as rude in my original response but your post came across as though you were trolling.

Why would you even bother answering this fool...
You spend your hard earned on a new car & someone congratulates you by writing 'Did you budget for a new engine?' !!
Leave him to spoil other people's threads & go enjoy your new motor.. smile

My engine never had a problem but I took out a Warranty Wise warranty to cover it just in case. I know of people personally who have engines go at very low miles (as low as 4,000 miles). I believe the Tiptronic versions hold up better but thats probably because more manuals are sold than tiptronics I would guess.

Hopefully your car will be fine but if you get warranty cover then it shouldn't be a worry. If not then you should have some money put away for what could be potentially a new engine. Of course it goes without saying that you should change the oil regularly.

dhead? Sometimes I admit but not in this case IMHO.
Read your post back, the OP is happy as larry with his new purchase and then you post an extremely useful reply about the engine. No detail or padding just a quite insulting response. If you'd have given a little extra info I doubt it would have come across so badly.
I'm fully aware of the inherent problems some of the 996/997 engines have with the IMS etc but there are nicer ways to make the OP aware. I believe (though am happy to be proved wrong) that there are fixes in place from LN engineering in the form of an uprated bearing though I guess time will tell how well that holds up.
