RE: Chris Harris video: Sport Quattro vs. RS200
Discussion
Just been looking back through some Group B car vids on youtube. They all have high hit counts, but worth seeing again.
Heres an amazing film of Ari Vatanen breaking the Pikes Peak Record in a fairly awe inspiring way. The clips at 3m00s and 3:50 are enough to make your balls shrink :-

ON this clip you can see why group B got banned. Shows Walter Röhrl from 1985 in a Quattro, and the total lack of crowd control from 20secs in, mixed with amazing footwork. After watching this you have to wonder if Röhrl ever had nightmares.

And finally, an excellent compilation of Group B at its best, with full on sound and no silly music. Features Quattro's, 037's, T5's. 205T16s et al.
The cars in this vid clearly have immense power, are mostly in mid air, between trees, or on mud. Makes you wonder why F1 drivers get paid so much for taking part in a precession every 2 weeks. The first 30 seconds is just mental ..

Delta S4 with supercharger and turbo charger. I don't remember any review of that. Hopefully Jim will fix it for Chris to drive it along with the 205 car soon.
This is a poor substitute for a CH video but it might interest youDelta S4 review

Who is this bloke?
Clearly not a motoring journo, can't do a three point turn (turning the wheel while stationary- PLEASE!), can't drift despite trying several times (even in a RS200 on a private road) and the Quattro is "in his top 10" yet he wrote less than 2 sentances about what its like to drive....
Brilliant cars and a pleasure to see them but what was the report and video all about? Was like Top Gear from the 80's with Quinten Wilson doing the review.
A take it he's the same showoff who rode in the F1 without a seatbelt and nearly p*ssed himself?
Hopefully PH let him review a door knob next week.
Obv, i meen it's really easy to drift a 4WD that's why all drifters use them, oh hang on,,, that's wronge isnt it, about a s wronge as your entier post.Clearly not a motoring journo, can't do a three point turn (turning the wheel while stationary- PLEASE!), can't drift despite trying several times (even in a RS200 on a private road) and the Quattro is "in his top 10" yet he wrote less than 2 sentances about what its like to drive....

I was strangely drawn to rally cars, which in later life proved sufficiently inspiring to make me shell out for various Group B based machinery as my daily weapons of choice .. including, eventually, a 10 yr stint with a road legal RS200 in full Evo guise, all 600bhp of it. With hindsight I should have bought a decent house and lead a normal life, but hey, you only remember one life at a time, and you cant take it with you
Wow! More details please if you have the time, I'm sure lots of PHers would love to hear about this after watching the CH vid with an RS200 with under half the bhp!Great stuff. What the video really brings home though, for me, is how much more exciting the RS200 is compared to the Quattro. The Quattro is beautiful and sounds great, but that little RS200 just looks incredible. It looks much fun to drive in the video too, delicately cocking a back wheel and sliding around. Very nice indeed.
I have, on occasion, sat down in my MR2 Turbo and pretended it was an RS200.

Harris did a short video of the BX 4TC - not a proper one, just a little stolen moment captured on film.
Here
thats good to see that BX 4TC - the white elephant, great driver throwing it about dealing with massive off boost understeer, what a pig it must have been to drive. Here
To be fair, the BX 4TC may have been a total dog. It never really competed enough to say otherwise, and we'll never really know that much about it saying as they're so rare. I applaud Citroen's bravery at the time, taking on the big boys like Ford, Lancia and Peugeot. Mind you, look at Citroen now, some would blame them for the 'death' of rallying with Seb Loeb at the helm!*
- Not that I do, I'll admit rallying has become dull but it's nothing to do with Loeb's wizardry, he is the man.
Great film and really good to see "The Frog" as my wife used to call it being driven! Here is another picture of the car from a day at Aintree with the Group B car club, following a friend in another Sport Quattro. I remember on the way to the event stopping at a junction and the driver from the car next to me shouted "is it a real one?".
Until CH gets to drive one:

and here's where, just maybe, he could

that said I'd still prefer to see a video about the road version. This car from the Patrick collection was sold last summer. Someone, somewhere must know where it is!

bonkers machine, supercharger and turbo charger. Single coil, but twin damper suspension, gorgeous interior even for a modern car and intercoolers you could land a helicopter on. what a shame rallying didn't continue to produce such fascinating road cars. Bring back homologation specials at once! Imagine road going version of this!!!
