If I remember there was also a very rare RS1800 made with a RWD configuration (It looked like the XR3i & RS) perhaps some one can en-lighten me ...
I also spent time working in South Africa where Ford built an XR5 it looked like an XR4 but with a big 5 litre motor big wheel
aches and Wing/Spoiler.............Perhaps someone has info on this also .
I don't recall Ford ever using the XR5 moniker in RSA. XR6's and XR8's - both Sierra variants. The XR8 was the 302 V8 and the XR6 was the Essex V6. There was other Ford stuff as well, specific to RSA, Cortinas were the XLE's (V6 Essex), XR6 (V6 Essex), and special models like the X-O-Cet Cortina (V6 Essex with triple twin-down Draughts). The MKII RS2000 Escorts were available with a flat (standard) nose. I don't think Ford imported any CKD RS2000 with the beak noses. The list could go on, but I won't.I also spent time working in South Africa where Ford built an XR5 it looked like an XR4 but with a big 5 litre motor big wheel

Stumbled across this as I’m going through restoring one of these at the moment, love all the comments about crazy 26k price tag! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was to resurface it would be way north of 50k,not a bad return eh....
Really? I friend who passed away rebuilt his to concourse condition in the 1990s, if it sold well it probably still sold for under £5k. I wish he was still here to regret selling it.darronwall said:

What was quoted was an RS1600i being worth £50k, I simply didn't realise there were examples out there worth that. Are there examples that have been sold for that?

Ask yourself what you could have bought with Nick Mason's £35k in the 1970s...

Restored s1 turbos have made 50 plus and I’ve seen a nice 16i make 25k within 24hrs of being put on sale,so a car like this one would make 50k quite easilyWhat was quoted was an RS1600i being worth £50k, I simply didn't realise there were examples out there worth that. It is quite frightening
