Indeed, and at 40K that's not acceptable... They are above their station with the new pricing (I know some of the problem is exchange rates)... People spending 40K on a car will be looking at lots of other options...
One thing about Subaru interiors though is that they barely age over the years. All the plastics keep their colour, switches are still legible, buttons still have the original feel etc.
Compare the condition of an ugly Legacy or Impreza interior after 10 years to the funky offering of a Ford for example.
As for this TA340C:
Extra costs would be brakes, spoiler/boot kit, springs/dampers, exhaust/remap, wrap. wheels. Anything else.
For a practical saloon with high performance and solid engineering (if the 2.5 component issues are resolved) it stacks up well against the competition.

That point is moot though. If I was a 40K car person I would not own the car more than 5 years. Think about the buyer...All the plastics keep their colour, switches are still legible, buttons still have the original feel etc.

I think that looks awful. There is no flow to the shape, the spoiler is out of place, the wheels look after market. It looks more like a Proton from 2005!I don't think the car is as bad as you're saying - I have to say I quite like it. But perhaps I did get a little ahead of myself on that one.
I like the new shape impreza, always have done, including the hatch. But the rear wing doesnt sit right with the rest of the car and looks very aftermarket.
The threshold for me was £30k. Over that and i feel it is overpriced.
So what would people do if they were on the Subaru board? Me personally... get the price below £30k, dont look to compete with the Germans. Create your own rally nutcase / stupidly cheap fast car niche as that is what attracted your original customers. Saying that though it hasnt really worked for lotus so i give up.

God yes. That is lovely. The wing and those wheels wheely make that car. I'd have one in a heartbeat (still need one to go with my Subaru coat and golfing umbrella from the PH Competition), would look even better with the wing vents from the ST205 as well.
