How many of you have but probably don't need two cars
Discussion
We have only one car that can accommodate us all every weekend and it's a Mondeo.
My £750 Golf GTI is for the days when she takes the car and I still need to get to work. I could get a train or bus but it's a 1 mile walk either way. However, the Golf also picks up my daughter every weekend and returns her (80 miles in all) and in the 3 years I've had the Glf, that has kept 12000 miles off the Mondeo so it tends to be almost worth it.
If anything, the Mustang is the least justifiable but it's paid for and if I sold it, I'd have lost about £10k over 6 years - not a lot but chances are, I'd miss it when it was gone. So bks to it, roll on the next 5 miles...

Family has 3 cars - wifey, mine and my fun car.
Been working in London during the week for two years so my daily runner is now a weekend only car and my weekend car is a every few months car.
My 'daily' is our best car LS430 and I would dearly love to let wifey run it and I would then use my toy more often or have a snotter, but she is such an appalling driver, the car would be wrecked in a few months.
She won't have a snotter, (but she's very good at creating them ), so we have two decent cars (hers with bumps and dents all over it) and the toy.

Daily drive - practical, comfortable, good (ish) fuel consumption, quiet, refined, quick when you want it to be, lazy barge on motorways if necessary:
Weekend warrior - impractical, noisy, crap fuel consumption, uncomfortable, crap on motorways, not quick, but hilarious fun, and simply awesome in the mud. Main thing is weekend fun without going bananas on the road and risking points / driving bans / death:
So yes, I think I do need two cars, there's no way one car would do all these jobs

Diesel Laguna Coupe which takes some of the pain away from 120 mile daily commute.
Skoda Felicia 1.3 GLi which I bought as a stopgap a few years ago and cannot bear to get rid now.
Weekend toy is a BMW R1200GS Adventure.
Plus the missus has a Golf TDI.
Baby one the way in May, so looking to consolidate into a BMW 3 series touring. Not sure what will sacrificed yet

This will be my next purchase! A customer of mine has an 04 version in his garage with less than 2k miles on the clock, it is like brand new!!!I sold my van recently as I'd done less than 2k in 6 months and couldn't justify insuring it for such little use.
Down to one (barely) useable car at the moment, I need to get my Beetle on the road, I miss having my own car!
Currently have 3 cars
A Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 in the UK - I'm in the UK for 6 weeks a year, so having a car there is a little overkill really but Hertz don't fit their rentals with AT tyres and I like to play on the Plain when I'm back
Another Jeep GC V8 in Dubai... used for playing in the desert, driving friends and family around, it's the practical car that every house needs.
Finally I also have a C6 Corvette in Dubai.... this is my daily driver and will eventually be used on track as well... it's my fun toy and I love it.

Need? What is this need of which you speak?
It's all about the want.
Indeed. We have 3 cars, and need none. It would be painful getting to work on a Monday and I would be late - (I leave the house at 5:10 and get to work at 6:50, and public transport would take me to 9:50, but a Honda Accord Diesel is cheaper than the return rail fare, plus the taxi at the far end. It's all about the want.
We don't need the MX5.
Wifey doesn't NEED the cavalier, but it's useful to get shopping, move children, take dog to beach, stay dry.
Well I have 5, & I can't imagine how I could get by with out any of them.
Toyota Cressida, to tow the horse float.
Triumph TR7 just for fun.
Triumph TR8, just for fun.
Ford Capri, just for shopping.
Hondas S2000, daily driver.
Oh there is a Mazda 2, so I never have to let the lady drive any of the above.
What on earth could I do without.
