Need? What is this need of which you speak?

It's all about the want.

I know that I could drop to 1 for self rather than 3 and also sell my bike.

Some simple justifications:
  • cannot turn at all workplaces with "flash" car
  • like a nice car but not prepared to spoil it eg car park dings
  • work hard for my luxuries
However, no matter how many excuses I make, know that could live with one car.

I've always had 2 for some time, most recent being a CSL and RR Sport

I had to sell the most impractical so I kept the CSL smile

I've had 2 cars for a while, but I only need 1 - my E39 540 is my daily driver/work car, the DA6 Integra for occaisional use on nice days.

I might sell the Integra though...

...and buy something else.

Exactly!

I do think I could lose a car or two but I just can't do it.

I've a GT TDI as a daily and a '40 Sov manual as fun car that enjoy working on and modding and obviously driving at the weekends. I don't need the big cat at all but it costs buttons to buy and run so isn't an extravagance for me. At this stage in my life I couldn't justify taking on debt and pissing megabucks down an expensive second car.

We have four and yet we still find ourselves standing in the kitchen debating who needs the car today! Yes all four are taxed, MOT'd, insured and in peak condition but we still debate on who needs the "normal" one (the Skoda).

I have 4.

328i (Track day/daily driver)
Stag (V8)
Landy (off roading)
XJ6 (umm...4 door so it's practical)

See? Need all of them.

More seriously, why shouldn't I have them? I have the space and no dependants, I will have to give them up soon I expect but am enjoying it for now while I can.

Alfa- Summer fun car

Bimmer- Long trips and winter change car

Capri- Summer old car and Euro roadtrip motor

Alto- Winter daily

Now my works moving to 2 miles from my house I need a bicycle!

PS- Through them all being old and switching between which ones are on the road and classic/multi car insurance I can run all 4 for less than a modern car if you factor in depreciation.

At the age of 13, I have 3 (if 2 of them can be counted as cars)

  • '88 Jaguar Sovereign - under restoration
  • '85 Sinclair C5 - Daily driver
  • '08 BMS 150cc quad bike - off road toy
Could probably do without any them to be honest.

Currentley have insured and taxed, Porsche Boxster and Range Rover P38 but also for day to day have a company car BMW 118 not the most exciteing but oh well.

No need for the Boxster apart from wanting one for a bit of fun on nice days when the rain is not around.

I work from home most of the time. The mrs commutes. The 350Z is hers and the Elise is mine. The Saab is just there to cover those situations where the fun cars are not practical. Realistically, the Saab is the only car that we really need, the others are toys. If we were forced into only having one car, though, we'd probably have something more fun to drive than the Saab, probably at the expense of being quite so comfortable and practical.

Caterham Superlight for loads of fun and DC2 Integra R for fun and practical duties.

Thinking of changing the Honda for an Elise. Though would then need a practical shed - thinking Landy or an E34 5 Touring.

I have six and need two in reality ( one for SWMBO and one for myself). The rest are really toys.

We tend to keep the Range Rover at the airport carpark, as we only have one space in London.

Defind "need". Neither of us would suddenly die if we didn't have a car at all.
