It's a 2.0 Astra? confused
Why are you confused? a 2.0 Astra isn't the most economical or insurance friendly car,for somebody with no job it makes sense to get something else.

I don't see what the problem is, the car looks tidy, its taxed and tested and current price is cheap. have you got nothing better to do with your sad lives?
Have you actually read it or just looked at the pretty pictures?

Leave the guy, his car and his sale alone!

I've been up against it like this before, he just wants rid, probably has bills up to his eyeballs (non-car related).

Honestly, this place is pathetic sometimes.

Tell me. Are the people who are taking the piss still living at home with their parents? I can't see many grown-ups behaving like this.

Oh get out of it. It would be a bit different if we were all bidding with no intention to buy at all. If anything we have INCREASED this guys chances of selling his car by giving it extra publicity. We certainly haven't done anything to reduce his chances of a sale.

As it stands its a POS astra that he probably wants too much money for.

I feel so vulgar looking at cars costing £20k when people are selling pieces of st just buy a even cheaper piece of st.

I think I'll go for something cheaper myself actually.

Yup, very sad. Both the being bothered to look it up and 'watch it' and especially the gloating redcard

So it hasn't sold, or met his reserve. So a guy who's a bit short of cash is left thinking should I re-list it for another X amount (however much it costs to list cars on eBay?) as there's a few interested watchers?

Well done chaps, perhaps not the best waste of your times today.

Pretty sure its free to relist if it didn't meet the reserve?

It was either a brilliant ploy to get a lot of undeserved attention or a stupid comment to add to the listing.
I tend to think the latter.
Telling people not to bid if they don't intend paying is fair enough.
Telling them not even to watch it makes no sense at all.

How exactly do you suppose this thread adversely affected the auction?
As it hadn't sold, if I were selling I would look at the amount of watchers to see if it was worth re-listing. Seeing as he has a few hundred I'm guessing he now doesn't know if it's a waste of time or not.

Sometimes when you're skint a few days can make a big difference.

Huh, a few days for what? Regardless of whether he re-lists it or not the demand for a 2.0L X Reg Astra at over £500 is either there or not.

If anything it should have told the guy "hmm 600 watchers, no bids, I'll lower the reserve next time"....and hey-presto he gets a sale and cash in his pocket.

I seriously can't believe some people are so cut up about this. Would it make you feel better if I linked you to one of my auctions so you could get thousands of people to watch?

The guy is down on his luck. Do you gain pleasure in kicking people when they are down? Go you! rolleyes

I have no idea why he put that statement at the end of sale, maybe he's been messed around before. It certainly didn't deserve the 'pack of hounds' mentality that followed though.

Bad form.

I can only imagine that Danny from Yorkshire is winding up a mate who happens to be selling a car in Yorkshire.
Otherwise, the most pointless & heartless & st thread in the history of PH (& thats saying something!)

Its a pile of st that needs work, and as usual he has over valued it and made remarks on the advert that does egg on people like me smile
If we "watch" the sale on ebay it has absoloutly no effect on the sale whatsoever.

Its probably knackered and he cant be arsed/ afford to fix it so made up a story, after all I cant see how you can buy a cheaper car that that. You may aswell get the bus.

I do think a few of you are over reacting. Chill outbeer

Not really. I've been on a budget before where a low value 2 litre car was too pricey to run, and have had to look at something cheaper/smaller capacity. I kind of know where this guy is coming from.

Just a distasteful thread really.
