TBH £550 is about the price of a 1999 Astra.
You could spend £200 on the car - which i doubt the O/P has to spare - and maybe not even get that back.
Personally, i think its a fair price for a reasonable enough looking car.

Were you simply testing the water with your original reserve then? I thought it was bid up to £545 but didn't go, or have I missed something?

Why is it bad to watch it? (Not an ebay user here.)
its not technically bad, but when you see you have loads of watchers it gives you the impression there is a lot of interest so you should get a good price for it,Basically their aim was to get his hopes up while hoping it goes for penny'sBaz Tench said:

Technically, it's not necessarily bad. It's the way it was done though, and the comments that arose.Just no need.

Oh, right. So for him he is using it as a gauge for the potential end price. But it might be good for him because other genuine buyers might take an interest and be more eager to try to win it? (Again, I'm a noob so sorry if that's an idiot conclusion.)
Yes it may actually backfire on the thread starter and actually help out the seller but the point is the op and his sheep's intentions were to simply get his hopes up.KennyGT said:
Webuyanycar.com ?
It's amazing how one ebay ad can cause such a debate. It could be fake, it could be real. But who cares. It all depends on your point of view, like everything in life. If it is real, hope you sell it, however It aint looking good, so maybe try a different method?
You might as well give your car away than use webuyanycar, My car is a 95 Audi A4 1.6 petrol in fantastic condition with only 52,000 miles on the clock 3 owners and new tyres and the car had just passed the mot a couple of days before etc etc. It's amazing how one ebay ad can cause such a debate. I got in touch with them last year and was offered £100 but only if the car was in perfect condition, they try and find a fault and then they can knock you down more.
Also there was something like a £25 admin charge plus if you want the money in the bank the next day they also charge you another £25.
It works out if I was lucky I would have walked away with £50.
So dont use we steal any car lol

Ah. I understand now. It's a brave new world out there! I only just discovered tonight that I can put crap tunes I've created on to iTunes and sell them to the unsuspecting public.
