If I had my own country that I was dictator of I would pluck such fools from their car and set their pants on fire to wake them up, then I would make them walk everywhere for the rest of their lives. In fact Iwould make them walk everywhere on the left hand side of the pavement so If I encountered them in town I could pass them easily there too because you just know they would be the zig-zag slow walking type as well as a st driver.
You have my vote.
Being a dictator he wouldn't need your vote. And would more than likely have you arrested for voting you commie pinko liberal biglaugh

fk. That totally escaped me. I apologise for my limpness in that aspect. Quite ashamed now.

I'm not surprised hear this at all. There are some really st drivers about, I'm not saying driving standards are falling, although they might be, but as there are so many more cars on the road, the numbers of idiots with cars is greater (and these people make an obvious nuisance of themselves more than a normal person would).

I've been taking my niece out for practice while she's learning and while I'm struggling by not having any control on the vehicle (imaginary brakes, trying to resist grabbing the steering wheel, handbrake) I've been trying to teach her, it made have to think about how to drive a car, which has become such a second nature to me, that i had to think about how to explain road driving, I dunno what you call it, common sense, road sense or savvy, but thinking about my driving, I'd say above all driving is about observation/situational awareness, maybe 50%, this sets you up for maybe 40% is anticipation of hazards, and only 10% is the physical act of driving the car, which becomes less with experience, obviously while shes learning the driving side is 50% of her capacity, but reducing. My point being if you do the former 2, then invariably you are aware of blues & twos long before they are in top of you, and have time to consider not only where and how to let them thru, but consider people behind and where they can follow you, I've often flicked my hazards on to get someone in the world of their own behind me, off phone, food, shouting at kids, and back on the road, then indicating into the side of the road, it doesn't always work, but does get them concentrating on the road, if it is "what's going on here (a hazard) ?"

And because some arent so aware they can panic, I've seen people slam anchors on ahead of me while I'm behind leaving me in a pinch point, forcing me to overtake them then pull in, or the ES will be stuck behind me, I've also had someone pull up on the opposite side ("doing the right thing")of the road thus creating a block between us! It can be quite tricky. People ignoring double yellow lines and leaving vehicles parked where they shouldnt doesn't help anyone.

The other thing I noticed while out with my niece is the blinkered impatience of alot drivers. I don't remember it when I was learning!

You are all safe in "Pistonia" if you can drive properly, if not then expect to be herding yak and walking on the left.

I think some drivers just get really nervous in these situations, I once saw an old lady in her fiesta at the lights, blue lights ambulance comes behind, she was moving the car to the left, then to the right and then straight ahead a bit before finally stalling!

In these situations you want to help emergency drivers as much as possible, so when pulling to one side I usually put my indicator on, move well out of the way and also come to a complete stop - the driver will then be fully confident of continuing. I feel for the emergency drivers some times because they must come across some right idiots!

So so true, the roads are littered with these 'Morons' who have no idea about the 'Art of driving' and general awareness around them. Each blue light moment is very different, sometimes it's better to stop, sometimes just slow in order for the E vehicle to get around you or others safely. It really does boil my piss when other moronic road users don't get it!

If I am to be honest I have overtaken a car (maybe two) having not seen or heard the blue lighter comming up behind me. Cant imagine anybody would do it deliberatley. getmecoat
I've done it too. In my defence the car in front had been driving so erratically that when they simultaneously heaved on the anchors and indicated, I automatically went to pass them. A quick glance in the mirror and I had a boot full of Police car! nuts

But you're forgetting this is PH, where no-one EVER makes mistakes! biggrin

Has similar last night, on the motorway, see some three or so cars back the blue flashing lights, finish my 'overtake', move over a lane and reduce speed very slightly so as to 'sit' in the lane.

Next car but one in front also spots the police car and moves over, car behind/just in front of me takes advantage and 'overtakes'. 10 seconds later his boot is full of police car, which he totally fails to notice. Until he *finally* moves over.

Idiot.
