Which would you choose?

Got a choice of the following.

Miondeo zetec 140 diesel
Accord 2.2d es
Mazda 6 163d ts
Avensis 2.0d tr
Insigna 2.0d 160 Sri

Sadly there's no option of a Volvo, skoda etc.

None really seems any better than the others.

Current thinking is 6, accord, insignia

6 or Mondeo off that list

I had a new mondeo as a hire car recently and it was surprisingly reasonable

The cleanest, cheapest to run, cheapest to own.

sleep but if you need to have something like that then spend as little as possible on it to help pay for something fun! biggrin

Mondeo's have always had great body control and they're a nice drive. Must be the biggest of that group too, which may or may not be useful.

Good engines in Accord and Insignia.

Don't know Avensis or 6.

I had a 2007 Mondeo Ghia 2.0l 140ps 6spd manual as a rep mobile. I put 110,000miles on it in 2yrs, caned the arse out of it, the boot is cavernous, its very comfortable long distance, easily cruises on 90mph, had loads of equipment inc climate, bluetooth, 6 stack CD, voice control, it NEVER went wrong once, servicing was cheap, it still drove like a 30,000mile car when I gave it back. Cant speak highly enough of them for that purpose. Felt much more solid than the Passat I tried too.

Passats are on the list too, but I really don't like them.

The mondeo is probably a bit too big for the mrs to use.
I thought the Honda seats were comfy but liked the mazdas styling, plus cam get an estate as they're cheapest.

Why don't you like them?

I am currently making a similar decision and for me, the Passat is my current favourite. I think they look spot on and I like the 2.0 TDi engine.

Accord 1st, in part because I really rate the 2.2 Diesel engine. After that I'd go for the Mondeo.

Use the tax calculator on there to see how much each will cost you. Might be surprised how different seemingly similar cars can be.

6 for me as there are less about and I like the looks. Accord a close second

Don't think any of them are particularly tax efficient by the way unfortunately.

The Accord is particularly crap with regards emissions.

No way would I be going near the Mondeo or the Avensis. I wouldn't mind the Accord, Insignia or 6 all tying 1st place for me.

Insignia, simply because of how it looks. Haven't driven any of them.

The Accord is by far the nicest car to drive of the lot, and knowing Honda, it will probably be very well specced as well.
