I, sadly enough, drove somewhere, got out and started taking camera shots of my 3200, that I now keep on my phone to peruse every now and again :-p It's an odd shape insofar that from different angles it takes on different shapes. From the back, to the side it's like a dragster; from the side full on it's very long like a jag, from the front it looks haunched with a tapered down nose. Beautiful lines on it.

Anyone out there thinking of getting one I'd say the yellow one on here is slightly overpriced at 16k. More between 12.5 - 13.5k I reckon. Good mileage though. Avoid anything above 70k as you're asking for ttrouble. Bought mine at 37.5 and have only done 1.5 in it (in one year).

agree, beautiful car.

I did discover on mine that in the wet, in 2nd, you can floor it with the steering wheel straight and once it comes on boost it will do a full 360 degree spin almost on the spot.

(I was on a runway fwiw)

Congrats on the car - but it's made to do miles smile I did more than 25k in mine in 20 months, and more than 750 miles in a day several times.

Many memorable drives in that car. Sure it nearly financially ruined me despite it having a full Maserati warranty, but hey it was a proper petrolhead car.

I discovered that after owning mine for 5 days.
It gracefully pirhouhetted into a hedge and caused 18k of damage. Not my finest moment.

Mine jumped/slide/drifted from lane 1 to lane 2 of the A329, throttles aren't binary even in a straight line.

Thinking about it I'm sure I did 30-40K in the 3200 and I've done 70K in the 4200... so over 100K in masers, I really don't want to add that up!

Pic here (about half way down page) from when Fifth gear came to vmax and I had mine.

Tiff commented how he liked it. Do you want a go? "er, no thanks"

I recall being told that the traction control was so crude that it only bothered to intervene if one of the rear wheels was travelling at a different rate to the other. If they were both rotating at the same speed, it assumed all was fine and it wouldn't cross it's mind to consider that BOTH rear wheels were spinning up.

I got my auto loan car VERY sideways in a straight line in the damp, partly due to the monster torque and partly due to that nasty throttle mapping. I found that one of the problems of a turbo lump and an torque-converter auto box meant that just because you lifted the throttle, it didn't always mean that power to the wheels was stopped.

Entertaining....

Yeah you're right and ideally I would do more miles but with one eye on costs, I like the BMW I have to bear the brunt of the town traffic - trips to the shops etc. But absolutely if we're off to the coast and stuff then it's the Maserati every time! Without getting too technical - too many uabn drives in the 3200 can seriously wear that clutch - I don't think its made for that sort of driving. Needs to get out on the motorway!
I do drive it every weekend though - just to heat it up especially in this weather. I envy you having done that many miles in yours.

What a load of tosh! I think anything with "I recall being told" should be banned on PH! I've also never experienced throttle after throttle had been released.

I found the traction control/ASR was very effective, it saved me from a nasty mess when the car decided the back end should be pointing forward at 70mph down a slip road. Just as it changed from 2nd to 3rd, the back end stepped out, the ASR cut in instantly and corrected it with minimal input from me apart from a tiny dose of opposite lock.

95% of throttle "concerns" are down to the reset procedure not being done during the service. If it were the throttle response isn't too agressive at all. It's so simple to do and transforms affected cars.

Ahh yeah, forgot about that, I did it one mine, wasn't it, ignition on for 1 min without touching the throttle then off, then back on with your foot flat down for 10 seconds?

Something to do with resetting the throttle parameters?

Did the throttle reset on mine when I first got it and it worked a treat, then had the throttle body cleaned and it was like driving a new car.

Exactly, as I recall, over time the "length" of the throttle gets narrower <-----------> to <----> hence the on/off the throttle reset which takes 1minute at home resets it back to <----------->

Just one of those things, when you know it's easily sorted.

something like that, I have the details at home and can post it later if required.
Effectively what can happen over a period of time is that the potentiometer reads from 0-3 = (idle), 4-7 (full throttle travel) and 7-10 (full throttle). When obviously, 0 should = idle, 1-9 = full throttle travel and 10 = full throttle. if that makes sense?
