LHD, you say in short bursts... Do you mean not a great long distance daily ?
I don't do many miles at all, done around 400 in the S3 since I've had it 120 of those going to brands hatch and back.
'My' R26 used to do my nut in on the 7 mile commute i used it for.I don't do many miles at all, done around 400 in the S3 since I've had it 120 of those going to brands hatch and back.
The biggest gripe, as has already been mentioned, are the random electrical problems.
Mine refused to start on more than one occasion due to not recognising the card keys, even when it was put in the key slot.
Oh, and mine has TPMS which was so st, words can't actually describe it.
Speaking of Renault, did anyone else see what happened to Evans Halshaw Renault Durham on Friday?

O right, ever driven a 182 Trophy ?
Bloody hell ! Hope everyone involved was ok.

Many times, probably the pinnacle of the Clio 2 line to be honest.
However i'd rather have a 172 Cup.
THE GT3 of small hot hatchbacks.
The 172 Cup had thinner glass to save weight, no ABS and the added bonus of not having to have the dampers rebuilt every 30k miles.
WRT the fire at Durham - No one was hurt, fire started at 4.30am, but the site has been totally destroyed.

I've probably harped on about my 225 too much already. But just to share the pain its:The biggest gripe, as has already been mentioned, are the random electrical problems.

2004 with 39k FRSH and has had:
5 injectors, 4 window modules, wheel bearings at 20k, an engine mount at 25k, another engine mount at 30k (different one), a swivel hub bearing (caused the steering to lock) and another window module has just gone.
Plus random electrics such as radio being turned up by heating controls, dead heated seats and both a rear hatch mech and bonnet release mech.
Also eats bulbs at an alarming rate.
Other than that it's great.

Now that Z4MC's and Z4MR's are within a few grand of eachother, where would your money go?

quick question. the 130i. why do they seem to be so unloved?
i have no need for one but looking you can get a 2006 130i with 50k for £8k. 3 litre, n/a engine in a light, rwd bmw; what's not to like?
Talking of unloved performance bargains...i have no need for one but looking you can get a 2006 130i with 50k for £8k. 3 litre, n/a engine in a light, rwd bmw; what's not to like?
Now that I've washed it I like it a bit more. Still fancy a classic though, or possibly some C4 flavour Pork.

i would suggest they are unloved as they look a little too "minicab".
what are they like to drive?
Uninspiring tbh. Fast in a straight line, and hold on well round corners (since the P Zeros anyway!) but lack the feel of a properly good car. Although I am comparing to the other two in the stable - a 205 GTI and an Elise...what are they like to drive?

Which is nice.

A bit 'unmarked car' about them too.
Which is nice.
On the way down to Cornwall on Monday I noticed about 80 of the cars that passed while I sat a GPS-verified 70 (had no reason to go faster, 70 means no turbo which means 40mpg+) would come up behind quick, then slow to pass, then a puff of diesel or a squat on the suspension before fking off into the distance.Which is nice.
Realised I was wearing a white long sleeve with a navy short sleeve over the top, wife was in pax seat wearing a navy hat and black/white top.
Which reminds me, I must book that speed awareness course before the offer expires...

Been looking at them myself too. Seem to be a few around the £4k mark with slightly higher mileages.Could get something decent for the same price but not much thats particularly special. Late E36M at similar money too but almost double on insurance, possibly more to go wrong and higher fuel.
