So 50k on this or simply pick up an R8 second hand, that in my mind is what the TT wants to be. Don't get it. Looks so Halfords too.

True but no matter what you do to it you'd still be in a chavved up TT and they'd be in a V10 R8. I know which one has more kudos.
Does that mean you think all RS models that have no after market power upgrades are 'chavved up'? There are no cosmetic changes.

Obviously I'd rather have a V10 R8 but my point was more that Audi are falling into the marketing trap in the same way that Porsche have a problem reigning in the Cayman so it doesn't step on the 911's toes. It's a shame the manufacturers can't make the car the best it can be on their top spec models.

Who in his right mind would buy this over a Cayman S/R?
I would! Well not in that spec. But the Cayman does nothing to me! Back to back with my Z4MC and it felt numb! Glad i never went for one!

Where do you get your remaps done? That's a ridiculous price! Mine are around £300 no matter what the car.
£300? It's a pretty technical engine. I had a bluefin fitted costing about £450 and it literally killed my ECU. I got it replaced under warranty and made sure I got the best treatment the next time so went to TTS Roadsport as they have an incredible demo car that mine has been modelled off. You want the best, sometimes you have to pay for it....

[quote=Escort Si-130]Not to mention it would cost more per year to mention those mods on your insurance, rather than buying the plus.

About an extra £700 for the year come renewal time. Year of change was unaffected.

+1
-1.....yes MINUS ONE

Who in his right mind wants a high performance sports car with a dodgy engine which'll cost you £4-6000 to fix because Porsche refuse to admit that their water cooled engines have design flaws and also refuse to help out loyal customers!

£5k for a remap and a wheel refurb? Really?

What would a generic remap add to the "standard" TT RS?
We don't know if it's had any cooling or transmission changes to cope with the extra heat rejection/power output.

You driven a TTRS on a track then, or is this just regurgitated rubbish you've heard on the TV / Internet?

The looks are dreadful, let's be honest. Audi have obviously let a chav into their design camp.

However as a ROAD car this is a pretty nice package (in standard TTRS form without the bling). It has more than enough power, a very nice interior and that engine is absolutely sublime and sounds it too. Yes the steering might feel be a bit inert (which modern German car doesn't) and it's 4WD setup might not be the last word in adjustability but to be honest, apart from all the alleged driving gods on here and the journo's who are upset that they can't hang the arse out at every hairpin, this will be irrelevant for 99% of people.

Yes those lamenting that it isn't that good on track are missing the point entirely. I'll say it again this is a ROAD car and it's engine and drivetrain package make it perfect for that purpose and a devastating point to point all weather ROAD vehicle. It is a bit pricey and by all means take the piss out of it's looks but as an overall proposition, I'd say it's a very decent car to live with day-to-day as most of the long term reviews have borne out.

I tracked mine when I had it and it was pretty good. I accept that there wasn't masses of oversteer, but it was quite neutral and very fast. Certainly kept all but the fastest Caterhams honest.

I've driven a TTRS on track. Many different tracks in fact, and on the same days as driving many other vehicles all on the same tyres so I've a balanced view point.

It understeers. A lot.
