I bought my Mondeo with 96k on. Now has 161k.

I figure somebody paid about £25k for it and got 96k, that's 25p/mile in depreciation! I paid £950, that's 1.5p/mile if the entire thing disintegrates round me tomorrow and leaves nothing to weigh in (got to be worth a few quid at 1.5t).

Lets not mention the 51p/mile depreciation on the RX-8 though (and that assumes we get what we want for it). frown

My m3 is about to turn 100k. It's in rude health.

Makes good sense financially.

cars cope with huge mileage if looked after.
I have seen several cars with "engine seized, no oil" for £500 spares only. Volvo S60, Focus ST, Renault Megane III.
A dead engined focus ST is worth lots more than £500 in parts if broken up. The key part is if looked after.
I would have snapped the focus ST up in a second if you could get it for £500 even if it was a stter.
I could imagine that at best this was an ST170, no way on earth would you get a turbocharged ST for that money!

100k: high mileage. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I wouldn't even consider such a low mileage car, there may still be undiscovered faults, I much prefer it when you know it's been run in a bit.

Last TDI had turbo failure at 152k, my new 1998 one has 138k on it. My Defender however is the same age, and is only a baby with 65k on it.
