Most used buyers will buy one of these in a few years time for £20k thinking they have got a bargain, and then the first time it needs absolutely anything doing to it will go bankrupt.

People dont seen to understand how much these things cost to run!
My mates got an E60 M5 he bought used and I think he's still astonished at how expensive everything is to fix. £400 for new front brakes (think that was just pads fitted at BMW) - new exhaust is twice the price of SOTW - 6-7 times for a BMW OEM one.

Regarding the fuel saving, this is nothing to do with the rich folks that buy them and everything to do with satisfying Eurobable rules. More MPG = lower emissions.

Hope they've got it to drive as good as it looks. Current reports suggest the new 6er is a little on the soft side.

Regardless, when pitched against the XK-R, the BMW will always be deemed to have 'no character' or 'lacking in soul'.

Have always thought of big BMWs like this as being a bit vulgar but actually quite like this (even if it's still a bit wrong). Is there anyone out there willing to stump up the £100k for one so I can then buy it through the approved scheme for about £40k in 2 years? Thanks

This car is expensive yes but the new 911 [991] Carrera S is an easy £90k - that is the average price of one with the options it requires. So pricewise it’s on par with the 911. But this car will be faster than a 911 C S - it’s got 911 Turbo Power for Carrera S money. Some people are saying this is Lambo money. I don’t see where you get this out of - for a start a Gallardo would not be competitor to this, Gallardo is a mid engine 2 seater supercar, and costs £160k - so how is it a competitor to this?

Tough choice between this and a 991 Carrera S, I probably go for the porker

Interesting you say faster, the new 991 with PDK does 62 in 4.1secs and 100 in 8.7 so on a par with the new M6, perhaps they could reprise the TG race on the IOM I'd wager the result would be the same.

Lovely car though...

Yep and that bad boy will be 100k+

I think I need to get my salary pegged to BMW's current pricing model.

That's because the BMW has no character and is lacking in soul.

The coupe is very pretty but that price is pretty staggering.. :|
Why is it? It's cheap compared to the DB9 and Continental GT, undercuts the Merc CL63 by £20,000 despite offering more power and costs around the same price as XKR-S. Plus the BMW with trounce them all in terms of performance. M6 expensive? It's a bargain in my view.

The improvement in torque and vastly increased range makes this a much better GT car than the old one.

This seems a lot more car for new 991 money. M6, jaguar,991 need to be bought second hand as all these lovely new motors will drop loads. Very nice though.

From the picture I assume this is also running the turbos in the V of the engine, which I have to say baffles me. With the M engine cover over the V, the heat build up must be huge, or are the turbos watercooled? At least with turbos at the side of the V there is some air flow to help reduce the heat build up, but in this config, with a hugely powerful engine......

i would be grateful if some-one has experience of this set up, or can at least explain how these actually work without self combustion!

Thanks

Get yourself a decent warranty and find a quality independant and it's not all that bad TBH. BMW will always take the piss massively if you insist on using them for routine stuff like brakes/tyres etc.

Always find it amusing that "character" and "soul" are used in some way to validate an inferior product. Alfa have been doing it for years.

Something for the BMW fans to aspire to, but yet another case of German photocopy designing.

Would I spend £100k on one - not a chance! There are much better ways to spend your cash.

Think it's the convertible that is 65kg's heavier than the previous model.

Edit'd for spelling.

Oh for gods sake

I hope BMW dont make 9000 different models that all look the same like Audi, the A5 A6 and A7 are all the same car to me, pointless

Want a GT? Get a 6 series,
want 4 doors? Get a 5 Series

Who cares about the extra 1/3 fuel economy as you drive from the show room you've lost 10k, and continue to do so every year for the next several year? But hey, that extra £30 saving at the pumps really made a difference laugh
I bought the m6 when they first came out,82k it cost ,didn't like it ,6 months later sold it...bet price I was offered ...£55k ,I would expect similar on this.

That's DIN weight and not EU - DIN does not include 75 kg for the driver.

Weights are:
