Shouldn't the question be India vs Germany?

I think the new 911 won comprehensively in last weeks Autocar test vs the R8, XKR and Evora they named it the greatest all round sports car ever made.
I had a quick browse of that article last week. Noted on the front it stated that the 911 'crushes opposition'. Reading the review, the 911 wasn't that far ahead of the R8, certainly not a 'crushing'.

M6 for me, but I'm a biased fanboi.

Inevitably that when the comparison is made, the M6 will be marked down for lacking character/soul/passion etc.

Top photo would make an 'epic' Pic of the Week with those skidmarks and smoke complimenting the radar enforced 55 speed limit sign wink

Wonder what the sign further down the road says confused - something like this perhaps biggrin

The Jag looks like a coy carp from the front....truely ridiculous in fact.

M6 far too clinical and teutonic.

As is any Merc for me.

For 100k I'll have a used F430 Spider and a Boxster for the missus ta!

Jimbo
The Boxster isn't Teutonic?

Oh, totally.

It's the sort of likeness that is inevitable from a mostly 2-seat, front engined, rear drive, drophead, 2 door car with 4 wheels. Other than that, please hand your man card in at the door if you can't tell an XKR from an MX-5.

If you define a company by who owns the shares, I suppose it should. Here's who owns BMW's shares so that would make it India vs err, where exactly:

Stefan Quandt: 17.4%
Johanna Quandt: 16.7%
Susanne Klatten: 12.6%
Free Float: 53.3%

by types

Strategic investors: 46.7%
Institutional investors:
North America: 15.8%
United Kingdom and Ireland: 11.8%
Other Europe: 5.7%
Germany: 4.8%
Rest of the world: 2.5%
Other investors: 12.7%

M6 all day every day for me. Not my favourite car but I'm not a fan of the XKR-S at all, and TBH didn't realise just how expensive it is either eek

The Jag does look particularly stupid with all those vents and wings all over it
Absolutely agree - to my eye it looks like an MGF that's crashed through Halfords. But if they can find customers with it, good luck to them.

JLR - are you listening?? - 550bhp motor option in 'normal' XKR with Speedpack/Sports Exh/Seats for me please. Limit it to 174mph - it'll just get there a bit quicker. 300kph is Pub/Keller bragging rights only. The XKR-S aero derived looks polarise - some love it. Plenty (includng myself) don't.

Jag in coupe form and in Black. Menacing! Most performance cars have ducts and vents here and there. I would imagine on the Jag most are there for a reason. Germans? there stuff leaves me cold. Brit brute everytime!

Yeah it is annoying when they do the tabloid headlines that don't reflect the outcome of the test, it won but didnt crush.

Agree with the consensus that the standard XKR looks a great deal better. Having driven the standard XKR on road and track, I never thought it was lacking in power and was pretty impressed with the handling for what is essentially a fast, comfortable wafter. Great car.

It's more English than BMW is German.
