Thanks for that - I'll be dropping by tomorrow to see if it was a B7. Not seen one in the flesh yet.

As for the tyre valves - it's a good way of checking if Alpina Alloys are the real deal or not I do believe.
I was going to pop in myself at some point to have a look.

You see, here's the thing I don't understand and makes no sense to me - I don't really get on with BMW's but for some reason an Alpina is something that I really, really like and want. At some point I'm going to have to have one to scratch the itch I have methinks...

I'll try and take a look tomorrow and let you know if a trip is worth making.

I'm looking to buy a used F01 B7 so it would be interesting to see if Sytners have one for sale...

I wonder if the D5 bi-turbo is back having been repaired at Buchloe. Was it black?

Pretty sure the one I saw was blue, like your previous pic.

Just seen this on the Alpina website:

The B3 GT3

More here:

It will be interesting to see if the wheel design makes it to other models. Detracts too much from the Alpina style for me though.

They've not long had the new 'turbine' design wheels, so even if these make it to standard models it'll probably be sometime yet.

That's a full time Ostallgäu (Buchloe) plate, export ones have red digits...

You said it PB. I've had a couple of BM's and liked them. I don't think I'd have another one. But an Alpina ? I'm tempted. Quite tempted.

When did the BMW roundel on the keys for an Alpina become small, metal effect Alpina badges? I've seen both the current style key with them and also a E46/E39 style key with them too.

Or has this always been the case?

Pic for clarity:

Not the clearest but you can see it at the edge of the picture.

I think it was around 2005 / 2006, but i'm sure you can order the keys with the Alpina Logo anyway.

The man who ran the Alpina department at Sytner from around 1995 to 2006 was a guy called Nick Godfrey, a great guy and massive car enthusiast. I remember he once ordered an Alpina B12 6.0 Kat E38 7 series in Japan Red, it had a Japanese Spec bootlid which had a smaller number plates recess to house the plate 'V12 ALP' i think it had cream leather lined boot as well. Awesome car.
