Thanks, I never really use it, and I sometimes think of selling it as it needs work, but....

I'm also considering getting an Alpina 3.4 S roadster if I could get one at the right price... 10k?

Not a great fan of red cars but I do like that. A V8 with nav would be more appealing though!

That's a full time Ostallgäu (Buchloe) plate, export ones have red digits...
Confirmed - this was the car I saw.
As tested by Autocar and the only D5 in existence.
Went out in it today.... My, it's bloody good!

Anyway, there's only one new B7 in the UK.

Looked at a 98 Alpina 540i, so much road presence but interior lets that age of BMW down.

C43 won that battle.

This car is absolutely beautiful, superb paint and interior with real performance. How can you loose money on this car if you keep it like this? (No, it's not my car, I just love 'em)

Do you mean a B10 V8? If it was a 540i (i.e. 4.4 V8) with Alpina badging then it was a fake.

Either way though it wouldn't have helped with the interior much to be fair, it's pretty much boggo E39 although the details like the blue faced clocks help and if the original buyer was willing to splash the cash there can be some very nice leather options on them.

vcat if you're still watching this thread I'm glad to hear you still have the B10, hope you're still enjoying it.

I have to say, I machine polished the B10 on the weekend and gave the interior a decent clean. Its really floating my boat, that car.

Not quite the same league of pace as other things I've owned, but pretty much perfect all rounder.

Isn't the B10 V8 340bhp? I'd imagine it's pretty quick!

It's plenty quick. But not 500bhp GTR quick.

I think the 2.5 was modified by Sytner instead of being built at the factory?
It's a cosmetic job - a Sytner special.

Sytner did build PROPER RHD Alpinas under authority from Alpina but they also punted out these UK-only cosmetic jobs which do nothing to dispel the myth that Sytner-built cars aren't 'proper' Alpinas.

This (admittedly gorgeous-looking car) was half the current asking price when sold from the PH classifieds immediately before appearing at Avantegarde...

I remember it becasue it would have perfectly complemented my Henna Red B9 Coupe:

Nice car! I used to own the black E24 Alpina, do you know the car I mean or it's whereabouts? I would still like to find an E21 Alpina if anybody knows of one?

was it a B10 featured in classic and sports car a few years back?

It could have been? It was in the Autocar supliment on Alpina's back in the 80's. The 3 letters in the reg were BRG but I can't remember in which order! haha

My old B2.5, swapped it later for a Cecotto back in the late 90's...

The E36 B2.5 wasn't a cosmetic upgrade.

It was an engine upgrade of cams, ecu and exhaust plus wheels, tyres, front spoiler, mats, gearknob (for manual cars) plaque and keyfob/keyring. The engine lifted the 325i output (the car it is based on) to 212bhp and increased torque by 10nm.

The Alpina suspension upgrade was available and recommended but not included, as were an Alpina auto gearknob and Alpina rear spoiler.

The upgrade was done at Sytner just like E24 and E28 non-turbo Alpina's, E32 Alpina's, and the few E31 B12 5.0 and E34 B10 4.0 cars. Unfortunately myth and mis-information has led people to believe the B2.5 was cosmetic.
