Thanks for all the advice everyone. Really wish I'd asked here first too be honest. I'll get a picture tomorrow and post it for you all too see. Going to get some Acetone to get the rest of the glue off and then see if a touchup kit will work.
Late I know, but my 2004 3.0i (SMG-55.000 miles) has been superb in every way. smile

Test the acetone on an inconspicuous bit of paintwork first, it may take off more than just the glue!

Years ago, as a research student I used to use superglue to mount biological specimens on glass slides so that I could grind them to thin sections to view under the microscope. They needed to be ground on both sides, so after I had done one side I just soaked the slide in hot water and it would eventually come unstuck. Then I turned it over, dried it out and stuck it back down.

I wonder if there were fingerprints on the plastic, if quite a few cars were done the BIB might have been interested

Sorry, I don't understand? Haha. Also I think you might be right about the fingerprints. I'll have a look in the morning and see if there is anything there. I'll be careful with the Acetone too. Wouldn't be able to afford a whole new bonnet, student life... Isn't it great?

Most common adhesives (including superglue and 2-part epoxy), can be softened and removed with heat. About 150°c is enough, use a heat gun where you can set the max. temp.Enough to break the glue joint, but not enough to destroy the paint if you're careful.
