Just wondering if anyone has crashed, and what age they were. Just curious about why insurance is so high for young drivers.

I was so glad when the mr2 wrote of the nova I swear that car was cursed

Didn't stop me from going out and buying another nova though, this time a 1.4 SRI (some people never learn biggrin )

Reason: under steered on a hairpin bend that was also a small bridge. Went straight on and hit wall of bridge at about 45 degrees. Ouch.

I have never crashed a bike and got into cars as a result of some woman (my ex') telling bikes are more dangerous than cars. Ten years on various bikes without a single collision (a few (dozen) near misses mind you) one collision per year in various cars.

200+mph bike fully comp' £250 excess - £186 a year with protected full no-claims.
999cc Fiat Panda (four speed so barely capable of 90 mph) fully comp' £250 excess - £1,100 a year due to no fault claims over the last five years, two years NCB. rolleyes

Crashed car: Suzuki ignis sport
Reason: Was 100% my fault. Driving too fast for the conditions, went past a constuction site over a very muddy road and had nowt but abs trying and failing to stop me before I piled into the back corner of a parked ford explorer. Nobody hurt apart from my pride and ncb.

Length with licence when crashed: 2 years.

I can see why young drivers premiums are that high as most pepole I know have had some form of accident by the time they are 21. Driving tests are too easy to pass IMO

1st crash, 17, my fault, wrote car off, no injuries, but didn't claim.
2nd crash, 17, my fault, wrote 2 cars off, no injuries, did claim.
3rd crash, 19, my fault, damaged 2 cars, no injuries, did claim.
4th crash, 24, 50% my fault, damaged 1 car, no injuries, did didn't claim, nor did other party.
5th crash, 25, their fault, damaged 2 cars, no injuries, did claim.
5th crash, 25, their fault, damaged 2 cars, no injuries, did claim.

No accident or claims in the following 30 years. I spot a pattern....
