There's something about these new age cars that don't bring out the idiot in me anymore.

Maybe it's because they're so good it's not that impressive - or more likely it's because they're not the cars that I relate to my yoof when all I aspired to was something to go sideways on my way to picking Jaki Degg and Leilani up for a date. Show me a video of an escort cosworth, r34 Gtr, supra or E46 M3 doing a burnout or street racing and I'll still sit with a grin on my face.

Does seem pointless, no fury about it, it has so much power the engine is barely under load.

Perhaps its because I read David Yu's test of the 800bhp "Thor", the predecessor to this, in Evo magazine first, where he mentioned that there would be a 1200hp followup called "Hulk", but I quite like it.

I dislike the rims and the fact that they've removed the rear spoiler but somehow I feel that unlike European cars, Japanese cars cant be ruined by tuning them be it visual or otherwise.

At least this car has the punch to go with the looks. God knows there's plenty of GTRs, Supras, et al. that don't and imo those are the ones that are truly chavtastic!

Did seem a bit of a waste of tyres.

Saying the engine mods are a waste of time I do not agree with however. Porsche 911 turbos are not exactly slow but ruf,9ff etc do not get slated ( and rightly so)

When cars were woefully underpowered. How much is enough? Turning an ultra fast car into an ultra fast car with no more noticeable speed or acceleration. cannot see the point.
You cannot see the point? Really?

Some people enjoying tuning cars. Sure, to most people its no diferent, but if it can accelerate to 100 by half a second faster, then to those guys its an achievement. Just try and think outside your own world.

For the record, I didn't find the video interesting. I'm not even a huge tuning fan, but I can understand why to some people this is interesting. In the same way I understand some people enjoying dressing up as luke skywalker and going to star wars conventions!

Guys I know that alot of you guys dont like the looks, Me ether but what the video shows is the progress the tuners are making with the new R35 GTR. I love seeing a new model car being tuned to a monster as a lot of newer cars cant take the tuning abuse of older iron blocked cars of the 90's. The GTR is truly a worth follow up to the R34 IMHO.

As for the wheels and tires, these are "show" wheels. The Hulk does not do 1/4 or track stuff on these big heavy things! lol..

How does a video of a crap burnout demonstrate the ability of a tuning firm?

If their car is that fantastic lets see back to back tests with a standard GTR and see whether the margin of vthe gap merits the effort. I do not believe in this particular case it does.

"Coz burnouts are da best init"

No really I see your point with the burnout but put it in to context. The firm has just been working on a new gear kit for the gear box and roll's the car out of the shop, Like most people who have just converted from 4wd to rwd there just having some fun!

Can you really think this would not be faster than a OEM GTR? The car has 200% of the OEM cars BHP and weighs less? Have you ever been in a GTR thats OEM and one with say a 650R conversion? Even at 650bhp the tuned car is ALOT quicker than standard car!

Oh and to say "worth the effort" this car is a demo vehicle so SVM use this car to develop new parts so thats not really a concern on this car.

When you say a lot quicker, how much quicker - lap based, standing start etc?

And we all know 'burn outs are da best bro!' biggrin

rofl I think you would notice over double the standard power. I only have about 130bhp extra in my already quickish car and my god the difference is huge.
People tune Lambos and Fezzas too, look at Underground Racing's work.

Anyway I'm not a huge fan of the styling of this GTR but if you offered me a drive I won't turn it down and would certainly choose to drive it over a standard GTR.

Here is a video of a few R34 GTRs racing in various states of tune just to show you the difference it can make. Seems it has been taken off youtube, I will re upload it later when I'm home.

Anyway here is another green beast doing its thing, demonstrating quite well the power of tuning.

And here is a video of a much more impressive burnout.

Love the GTR, like the idea of 1200 bhp but a kermit green one with a massive wing would make me feel like a right tool, could only use that at events, driving it on the road would be embarrassing.

Suspect 1200 bhp is actually way too much given a standard one is so quick anyway, the video suggests some insane velocities were reached, very quickly, all great and that but I would be a total wreck having got back and realised I had just nudged 160 plus on an A road, knowing my luck I would find that mobile speed camera.

Why would you do it on an A-road? 1200bhp and a burnout-mode mod is clearly a dragstrip modification, despite what the tyres would suggest.
