Love the GTR, like the idea of 1200 bhp but a kermit green one with a massive wing would make me feel like a right tool, could only use that at events, driving it on the road would be embarrassing.

Suspect 1200 bhp is actually way too much given a standard one is so quick anyway, the video suggests some insane velocities were reached, very quickly, all great and that but I would be a total wreck having got back and realised I had just nudged 160 plus on an A road, knowing my luck I would find that mobile speed camera.
Why would you do it on an A-road? 1200bhp and a burnout-mode mod is clearly a dragstrip modification, despite what the tyres would suggest.
I thought I saw a video of it hooning down an A road, must have been something else.

Here is the Skyline vid I was on about. As you can see even with shonky handling if you double the power of the standard car it is about 5 secs a lap faster on a track with only 1 good straight.
(yes I understand this may not just be down to power upgrades but it is clear to see how much faster the Esprit built car is)

I don't think you can really question why people do it, as 'tuning' cars is not exactly a new pastime...
When cars were woefully underpowered. How much is enough? Turning an ultra fast car into an ultra fast car with no more noticeable speed or acceleration. cannot see the point.
rofl I think you would notice over double the standard power. I only have about 130bhp extra in my already quickish car and my god the difference is huge.
People tune Lambos and Fezzas too, look at Underground Racing's work.

Anyway I'm not a huge fan of the styling of this GTR but if you offered me a drive I won't turn it down and would certainly choose to drive it over a standard GTR.

Here is a video of a few R34 GTRs racing in various states of tune just to show you the difference it can make. Seems it has been taken off youtube, I will re upload it later when I'm home.

Anyway here is another green beast doing its thing, demonstrating quite well the power of tuning.

And here is a video of a much more impressive burnout.

Laugh all you like mate but it's easy to tell the difference between 150bhp and then 200bhp but seriously having been in 500bhp cars and then 600bhp cars I cannot notice a huge difference. Transferring 300 or so more bhp onto the road/track in a GTR - is it that noticeable as the chassis, suspension etc is a still constant.

This is the wing the car normally has fitted

That looks totally st. LOL at the comment about not being able to ruin Japanese cars by visual modifications, you absolutely can and this is proof. Also, what a waste of a good car, to turn it into a glorified chav machine. Tuning is one thing, David Yu's GTR was pretty cool, but this is just crap.

A 100 bhp difference is one thing but you are saying that 700bhp won't make a noticeable difference. Search for underground racing videos on YouTube. They often race their twin turbo lambos or fezzas against standard versions for comparison. See the difference in pace and tell me it would not be noticeable as it is obviously usable.

Right, do we're saying it's only noticeable on straight line racing then? Not real world.

Is going in a straight line not done much in the real world? Lol.. I have a 500+ bhp rwd nissan and I can agree with you in some respect as my car would not be any faster in the real world eg. On the road if it had 6/700 bhp. But on the 1/4 mile the car would pull a faster time.

The gtr at 1200 is just mental. You can't use power like that so its just for pushing the limit on the engine and then using this knowledge to the apply it in track/drag cars.

That was an awful burnout, whats with the blipping the throttle and dumping all the time. A proper burnout should be controlled and consistant.

Yep, but the point is if you have that power are you doing standing starts and 0-100 all the time, so why take a perfectly good GTR and devalue it by doing this?

Why take a good gtr and do this? ITS A DEMO CAR! Lol.. don't think any one would do this to there own car but its a publicity stunt to get svm noticed. It works and even if people don't like it they still talk about it.

I accept it is a demo car; demonstrating what and why then if you wish to follow this discussion further?

The variety of styling and performance upgrades SVM offer for the GTR, basically showing they;re a one-stop shop for GTR tuning whether you want a few mild upgrades or a completely bat-st mental track/drag/show car. They also have another car running in the Time Attack series this year.

burnouts don't annoy me, if you had read (or maybe not chosen to ignore) the rest of my post you would know this. The throttle blipping annoys me, because I keep wanting him to just keep his foot in and lay some nice elevens.

Right, so now we are getting somewhere. What have they done to the car that is competing?

Considering the weight of the GT-R I would be more impressed with a sub 1200kg car than a 1200bhp one. Can you imagine that?

Anyone know the lightest GT-R ?

People in the UK have shaved 100+ KG just in seats and some bisic panel swaps but this http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/articletyp... has to be one of the lightest GTRs thats not a GT1 car aka sumo powers etc.
