That vid demonstrates so clearly how twisty the ring is.He was hardly ever upright. I prefer my trackdays on 2 wheels, but I did the ring in my car as I know I simply don't have the talent to do it jusdtice on a bike. I now prefer my kicks on adventure bikes and the buzz of doing 100 mph on gravel tracks is far greater than anything I've done on a track. Big respect to this guy,he is an amazing rider.

I take it this is the same Dale Lomas who runs the RSRNurburg operation that runs a fleet of 911's?
Not quite, I work at Rent4Ring.de as a dogsbody and we run a fleet of Suzuki Swift Sports. Nice thought though! wink

I always wondered how a bike would go around Karussel.

Turns out it's 'horizontally'.

People comparing R1 v Zonda.
Compare the on the road price of each. R1 ~ £10k. Zonda ~ £300,000.
No contest. 2 wheels rule round the ring.
Lol. My tortoise was free at a fun fair years ago. So that 'rules'?

As stated in my (and this threads) first post RESPECT to all bikers though. Mad.

That had my palms sweating. I don't know how he could sit on the bike properly, there must be some sort of recess in the seat to hold his giant balls. And what about leathers, are they specially made or does he just cut a hole in the crotch and let them swing free?

That was both amazing to watch and depressing at the same time. Makes me realize how unbelievably sh!t I am at riding.

Was having a chat w/ a mate a while back who wants to get into bikes, and the bike of his dreams was the 1198. I said I don't care what my next bike is but my dream is to have a shedload more talent! I know that if I bought a GT3 RS tmrw, I could drift it round a corner, not as cleanly or as long as Monsieur Harris but I could do it. But i could NEVER do what Dale and Andy and the Baron do! Never! Heck, I couldn't even ride like those lads at 6:00

0 to 1 minute : "Not bad"
1 minute to 3 : " !"
3 minutes to 4 : "How the hell can you brake or accelerate like that whilst leant over at 45 degrees?"
4 minutes to 5 : "Weeeeeee...!" I'm feeling like I'm out on a good Sunday and getting in the groove myself.
5+ minutes : I'm actually starting to feel a bit ill smile

Hellish riding skills, and hellish knowledge of the circuit.

I know I'll probably end up coming back in a body bag but I want to go there. Now.

Also there were a couple of time when changing *down* gear when the front popped up? Eh? I can only assume he was in too high a gear so changed down and nailed it?

One word to sum that incredible lap - commitment. Quite a few squirrely butt-clenching moments!

Glad you guys enjoyed it, I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do on the new bike. We'll be running road-legal tyres of course, to keep it all fair.

Dale

bearing in mind your knowledge of the ring in cars and on bikes do you think a bike could do a 7 min lap even on slicks ?

That is just outrageous! I watched it whilst having my lunch...I didn't eat much of it, too busy gawping at it and uttering non-repeatables! And also feeling sick and breaking out in a cold sweat.

I used to ride bikes until 'the big one' happened; I'll never replace that feeling in a car. I miss them like hell but watching that just made me cringe.

The biggest of respect!

No, they don't.

Sorry.

Whilst impressively brave and with balls of stainless steel, bikes are chopped liver round the Nordschleife.

6.11 still stands.

You're a minute late.
