Performance Bike was never the same when you left Dale. You and 'The Baron' doing mega quick laps around the ring made me buy that mag every month without fail!
I have never had a big off either and still ride around like I am qualifying for a GP whether on a Trackday or to Sherburn....
I really like cars - but I love riding bikes. Its a shame most people on Pistonheads will never experience them in the same way as I do.
I agree with this entirely. I haven't had a big shunt but a couple of the medium ones hurt enough. I too ride progressively but I am a bit wary of the cops on the roads to Sherburn in Elmet because they know we are coming! I think a true Pistonhead owes it to himself to try riding bikes because it is the most intense motoring hit you can get. Also I think that they should add the Nordschleiffe to a World Road Racing Championship along with the TT races, Ulster GP, Southern 100, Scarborough Gold Cup, NW200, Macau GP etc...
I'll be entering the first group of bikers later this year when I do my DAS. I've no interest in track riding or superbikes, I like nakeds and classics. I've never been in a car that feels great to drive or passenger just pottering around, but having been pillion on numerous bikes (including superbikes) from a young age and having owned off road bikes, they have all been enjoyable in different ways.
I've experienced the ridiculous pace on the back of a GSXR-1100 and the joy of feeling the wind because you're wearing a 'piss-pot' helmet and enjoying the summer's sunset from the back of a W650.
I still enjoy cars and driving them, but I'm young and biking is a much cheaper option for me. The only car I really yearn for currently is a Caterham, which probably gives the closest feeling to being on a bike that a car can give.

Isn't 7:26 the lap time the Zonda R managed - good grief he was motoring. How much quicker would that have been on a clear track!!!!
just remember though the Zonda was a full lap not just BTG which I think usually equates to another 20ish secs (maybe not in something that fast so bike would be about 7.45)7.26 is in the same ballpark as the GTR, Zonda, Enzo, GT3RS 4.0, 458, MP4-12C... 7:22-7:28.
The GT-R has done a 7:29 last I checked on a full lap, not bridge-to-gantry.

People comparing R1 v Zonda.
Compare the on the road price of each. R1 ~ £10k. Zonda ~ £300,000.
No contest. 2 wheels rule round the ring.
The Zonda is faster than the R1 though, so no, I don't think they do. Compare the on the road price of each. R1 ~ £10k. Zonda ~ £300,000.

How fast you can go on a bike for £10k though is just shocking. The speed some of the riders can get round at is just ballistic Huge respect for bikers and their bikes, I just prefer cars
