Herbs, I am just an ordinary member of the public who has had a great deal from MB. Yes Mercedes is mentioned (along with MB), but then again, it is a post about an SLK...funny that!! Be as cynical as you like, I've no reason to lie or waste my time on here, hiding an ulterior motive. Changing the subject somewhat....your reply to my original post is rather rude. My only aim was to let others know that MB are trying to claw business back from independent lease companies and will look to offer a great deal.
If you think my reply was rather rude then you obviously haven't looked at other threads on here hehe

Leasing will be cheaper given the depreciation but.....

Get a 197, Type R or VXR like most other 19 year olds smile

The SLK 250 is rubbish and 6k is laughable no matter how much money you have.

Unfortunately some wheels and a couple of bits of plastic do not make a sports car.
Whilst I accept that, I'm only quoting the full model of the car!! Regardless, I'm looking forward to it landing on my drive.
No criticism implied, it's a nice car enjoy it.

Stumbled on this thread by chance. Why so hostile towards this car. Have the critics driven one? I have one of these, an slk 200, amg, leather, air scarf, heated seats, flappy paddles, all that stuff for £299 per month inc vat on a 3+24. I've had gtv6's, suds, interceptor, 928s4, 996, rover p3b coupe, alfa spider, R32, and others as well as sports family saloons, mainly Bmw and audi, one c class. This is up there as one the best cars I've had. Try getting a z4 or a boxster or other mid price two seater for that price. Slow? Not really, yes against others I've had, but its not that bad. Comfortable? Superb. Handling? Good for anything but track days, but I got it to use on A and B roads, you know the ones with speed cameras and speed vans, and other motorists. I pay £34pm insurance, fully comp. I'm not a hairdresser btw, does anyone still worry about that sort of thing? Really? More a cruiser than sports but I'm 49 so maybe im that age. Love it.

The OP is a first class imbecile or a troll.

You want to spend 6K!!! on insurance to impress some mates. Trust me I know what it's like to want a nice car at a young age but you'll drop just as many pants in 5-6 year old performance hatch at 19 as you would in a new SLK (in which you may look like a hairdresser, especially to other 19 year olds who don't know about cars).

You will look back on this moment in 3-4 years and either thank god that we all saved you from being such a tosser or you will have sporadic bouts of uncontrollable blubbing for paying an insurance company 6 grand to insure you for 12 months.

If it was an SLK55 AMG then maybe you'd have a point but it isn't so you don't.

Because they are ignorant but want to look big and clever. biggrin

Try asking someone why they call it a "hairdressers car", they won't be able to tell you.

The obsession with some twisted "image" logic many so called enthusiasts have is laughable.

I chose an SLK over a Boxster and a Z4, its simply a far better car for my (real world) needs. The new Boxster that has just come out is a cracker though, could really go for one of them.

Pistonheads slogan really needs changing to "image matters" I think. biggrin

Wayhay, another one!

Go on then, explain why having an SLK will make someone look like a "hairdresser"?

I know two hairdressers, one drives a Mondeo and the other an Astra.

Twice I tried to get the 250 on what were incredible terms. Twice Merc could not deliver and time ran on until I cancelled. If its too good to be true etc. Bought an early SL55 instead in the end - missing the 50+ mpg that was claimed for the 250!

Ah my friend you didn't read my post carefully enough. I certainly don't think SLK's are 'hairdresser's' car (there's no such bloody thing). I actually was lookning at SLK 350'S before buying another 130i. But I would imagine that is what his 19 year mates would being saying and I just questioned whether he wants to dump enough money to put down a deposit on a house (over 2 years) to drive around in a nice car that he will get ribbed for.

I would absolutely love an SLK as a nice relaxed cruiser come convertible for the summer months. I certainly wouldn't pay 10k for two years insurance for the privilege.
