I looked at the prices of original Minis yesterday and was shocked. If you see a nice one going cheap buy it.
...and some life assurance. By modern standards an old Mini has about the same crash protection as a bicycle.

Depreciation proof cars are fantastic, something that provides fun and may actually go up in value isn't going to be an investment but what fun at a low price: would recomend any low production car, if only 300 existed and they are tasty values can only go one way, if 2m made you will have to wait a long time for rarity value! Downside parts and servicing are more, cant have it all!

I chose something I love and isn't filling the streets: MASERATI 3200 GT

I can't see anything Vauxhall being sought after in the future TBH

Nova GTE, Astra GTE, Calibra Turbo, Tigra. All average car's when new and other than in vauxhall fanboy circles I'd imagine they'll remain that way. Just not interesting/special enough.

Mint Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo/Alfa GTV 3.0 Cup cars I can see going up in value as they have a certain "something" about them.

A lot of cars that are currently sought after were distinctly average in their day and were only driven by those in 'fanboy circles'.

Little bit of an odd ball but the Toyota Sera, rare (import only), cheap to run and they look like a 90s concept!

These have basically doubled in price in the last 5 years. So it's already started!

My vote is for the Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo.

Its all very well saying R26R and Masser 3200, but I meant cheap cheap. An escort back in 1981 even a Mexico was less than a grand. In today's money????

MK1 Focus RS & Racing Pumas must be a sure bet, think how much a good Escort RS Turbo will cost you now never mind a mint Escort Mexico.

Always wondered if F1 linked cars would be worth something in years to come, Clio WIlliams probably, but a Jordan Civic or a Schumacher Edition Siecento or Stilo?

I dont think any of those will ever be desirable with the exception of the Barchetta.

Jaguar XJS, particularly the rarer variants like manuals and nice V12's. The values of the XJRS and rag tops are already quite robust, I can see the others getting stronger too once many of the rot boxes have died off.

I think this list is more like it. Cars that will be remembered for being great rather than something that nobody wanted in the first place.

Yes i deleted the mk3 golf , if you had said Corrado however.......

yes Still possible to find under £1k though. I'll add 205GTI & 106GTI too, Rallyes are rarer & cost more!

I am hoping that once all the rubbish ones have been broken and crashed, that Corrado's will be worth a bit more in the future!

On that premise no Capri, Granada or Cortina or bog standard Escort would be worth more than scrap now. In thirty five to forty years time, they will all be worth plenty. You read it here first!
