I was wondering; What MPG do the people in this thread get out of their Z4Ms?
The official figure is something like 22 I think? That isn't usually a good omen.
I got 24.3 over 50,000 miles - no particular effort towards fuel economy. London car, but mostly used on weekends and track days... No idea what the new owner is getting...The official figure is something like 22 I think? That isn't usually a good omen.

Glad you enjoyed your time in Cayman. Can understand the attraction of the BMW at the right price....
FYI I can't remember what your budget is but your welcome to make me an offer in the mid 20's if you want a sublimely spec'd Cayman S.
Stunning car from the quick look I've just had. Out of my reach unfortunately, unless I pimp out the other half FYI I can't remember what your budget is but your welcome to make me an offer in the mid 20's if you want a sublimely spec'd Cayman S.
Here's what I recorded on my 'normal' 3 & 3/4 hour, 220 mile 'commute' from Central London to Liverpool this afternoon. 'Consump. 1' and 'Avg. speed' were reset when I left the petrol station in London, and the photo was taken as I parked the car at home in Liverpool. The average includes (of course) the motorway cruising and the 20mph driving around London! Didn't go above 20mpg until I'd hit the M4 as there were too many stop-starts at traffic lights & such.
It was showing 31.3mpg until about 20 miles from home, but I floored it a bit to overtake some dawdler in a 307 turbo-diesel doing 40mph in a single lane NSL - who then accelerated up to 60mph and attempted to tailgate me, obviously for having the audacity to overtake them - so I floored it a bit more and they disappeared
I'd also assume it'd be better if I had reset it once I was out of suburban traffic, and if I could have avoided any jams.

I have followed this thread with great interest...! Im sorry to say it but you have been to FOUR Dealers to test drive the various cars mentioned for a good and long drive as you have described in great detail the Cayman S as you say is out of your budget.? And now your saying your going to buy a ZM "Roadster" From Work........! I'm not been funny but do you wonder why we all moan that it's getting more difficult to get a test drive in a car that you genuinely what to buy from a Dealer..........!
I'm a genuine prospect, who the dealers (two of which are friends) know is actually going to buy. I'm not a test pilot or a tyre kicker - I've bought four quite chunky cars from two of these dealerships and tend not to bugger them about. Test drives for genuine punters are part of the service provided by any dealer worth his salt, provided there's a good chance of a sale at the end of it. I didn't foresee the VT'd Z4MR coming on to our books and if I can't get this car at the price I am prepared to pay, one of the three dealers will almost certainly have a sale. And, unlike many potential buyers (I suspect), I've kept all of the dealers who I've been in touch with up to speed on my feedback, thoughts and next steps so to manage expectations and out of courtesy. So, no you're not being funny and I don't understand why you're confused?
Let me get this right...
A bloke is looking to outlay considerable wedge in the tens of thousands of pounds. On an asset which will cost him thousands of pounds over his time of ownership.
And yet you feel that its more important that he does a dealer/seller a favour by actually buying a car rather than taking time to decide how to spend that money? You seem to be suggesting that having had a few test drives from these dealers he is now under some kind of obligation to spend that considerable amount of wedge.
Hmm. When I ponder spending serious wedge on a motor I generally spend 6 months nailing down what I want, test drive several motors from different places, waste quite a few ppls time and then decide how to spend my wedge. Somebody wants thousands of pounds off me they jump through my hoops, how and when I say so. My thousands of pounds are a hell of a lot more important to me than somebody else feeling their time is wasted.
