I'm not a fan despite quite liking the normal version, it just looks too bottom heavy. There is too much going on at the bottom of the car which doesn't give well to a convertible bodystyle IMO as there isn't anything to balance it out.
It looks like a bathtub on wheels.Phil Dicky said:

Although it's not to my taste, it will be a runaway success and keep thousands in jobs. So that makes me feel ok about it.

On looks - not my taste, but looked a lot better, and a lot less cumbersome in the flesh.
I can quite imagine that it would actually - the biggest problem in pictures is that it looks like an "ordinary" four seater sort-top, which makes it look really badly proportioned. I'd imagine that an idea of scale would make it look enough different from normal cars for the unusual proportions to be less offensive. To my mind that's what makes the biggest difference between seeing pictures of a car and seeing a real one. Particular styling cues only suit certain sized cars, which is why some cars look good in pictures but rubbish in the metal (because the styling doesn't suit those dimensions) and some are the other way around (because the styling only suits those dimensions).

I really don't like that. Without the roof, it accentuates how much metal there is below the window line and it makes the car look dumpy.
I've typed this before, and I'll type it again - I really resent that there is more of a market for crap like this these days than for honest to goodness, simple, light, RWD sportscars and roadsters.

I'd be interested to know how they've dealt with roll-over protection. It's going to be a bloody heavy thing to support on pop-up roll hoops if it does go over and I can't believe they can make that window frame support a significant proportion of its weight.
Mind you, I don't think any full convertibles are particularly good if they roll over.

Am I missing something here or is there some sort of "emperor's new clothes" thing going on?
Sorry - but that is simply awful. I suppose it sort of typifies the times we live in; it's not elegant, beautiful or understated, it's just awful, chunky, "bigger is better", "look at me!", tasteless tat. It's not just the car either - it's the sort of people/lifestyle that it represents to me. I suppose I'm being snobby but I daresay that footballers, builders and "barrowboys done good" will be snapping them up.
It's horrible- utterly tasteless. I really would rather drive a Rodius.
