Is it just me that didn't know it existed?

Pretty handsome in the flesh for a VX, though looks fussy in the pictures and from certain angles.

I have heard about them, didn't know they were actually selling them.

Looks nice, better than the Insignia at least!

Don't think they're actually on sale yet, but there are a few Vauxhall employees running them.

As you live in Hitchin I guess it's not too surprising to see one out and about!

Im f*****g sick to death of going over this again and again.

The only way anyone would or could ever buy anything in the range for list price would be to refuse outright any discount they offer.

Agreed, if you must have a plug-in bybrid, just wait for the new Prius which will certainly be cheaper, and not a Vauxhall.

I would be very surprised if they discount this.

However, you will be able to get a £5k government grant.

I just read throught that sales blurb....and I like it. I usually have an irrational hatred for Vauxhalls too.

235.4mpg combined?

How far would you have to drive to break even given the near £40k £?? retail price??

A fookin long way I'd a thought.

As I was driving through Luton at the time it's even less of a surprise wink

Anyway, as far as I can see from elsewhere on the web, the practical starting price is 33k, which is 28k after the government grant (unless places are actually listing the price including the grant).

OK it's still a fair bit more than an Insignia, but you wouldn't have to cover that many miles to cover the difference and the BIK rate will be massively lower (40g/km). For 99% of my driving, I'd be paying no petrol duty at all, since I'd be running it fully on electric power, which would appeal to many people in itself.

Even with 20% off it's still £30k, not exactly cheap. You'd have to be committed to 'the environmental cause' & overlook some well established & cheaper alternatives to pick one. Looks not unlike the Honda Insight btw....

There is no. fking. way. that it will get 235.4 mpg combined even in the misunderstood lab conditions that produce official fuel consumption and CO₂ figures. No. fking. Way.

It'll get an infinite number of miles per gallon under the vast majority of driving conditions in the UK, because it wont be running on liquid fuel at all.

The fuel economy test is particularly stupid with plug-in vehicles, though.

Yeah who would spend that on a vauxhall when you can get a top of the range diesel golf for 40K

Good point, but neither appear to be particularly good value IMO.

No it won't

As the engine is forced to start once a month by the brain to make sure it still works

Anyway as we know from all the EV threads that the average journey by a pistonheader is 376 miles at no point has anyone ever had a 20 mile commute to a 9 to 5 job
