Going to Devon From Millton Keynes

Hi, we'd really appreciate your help. We will travel to Devon please give your opionion on our plan

1 leave Milton Keynes around midday on Friday 1st June (just before Bank holiday) and stay somewhere before the m5/m4 interchange and only have 3 hours journey down to Devon, leaving hotel at 6am - how serious will be the jams on this route from milton keynes to a hotel near m5- will it take like 6 hours??
2 do as my freind suggests, get up at 4am and just sail through- I can't bear the thougth of being in the car for 6 hours, even if we do stop every 2 hours.

I've just done MK to newquay (left MK at 10am yesterday morning and drove back today. Including a couple of look breaks it took just over 5hrs for each trip including a couple of loo breaks on each leg.

Boring as hell so I just sat there at 70mph the whole time. Roads were clear though
