I'd bet good money that in a few years time these limited edition cars are changing hands for a premium over the standard M3. You only have to go on the E46 forum and listen to people getting all excited about the BMW 330Ci Clubsport to realise that enthusiasts love anything that makes them think their car is a little bit more special than everyone elses.
Fools and their money... The E36 GT2 seems to command silly premiums when it was nothing more than a cosmetic makeover.Would have been nice for BMW to release a 'GTS-Light' version as it were. Dump a bit of weight, more aggressive remap etc as a last hurrah. The last few special editions of the E92 appear to have been nothing more than painting exercises (?black edition, matt edition etc).
What ever become of the 'carbon lightened' saloon (blue with black alloys iirc) that was mentioned at some point last year?

Run out special or not, this has to be one of the funnest new cars available today. Smallish, 400+bhp, set to hold its money over a 10 year ownership, what's not to like?
Unfortunately BMW has saturated the market and residuals have taken a massive hit as a result...special edition or not. The only example to hold its value in any meaningful way is the GTS....jamespink said:

How do you work that out? You can have your pick of 4yr old cars for £22K now, sounds like a depreciation nightmare! Even as a ltd edition, it's only going to be a few pennies better, but anyone buying one of these new is in for quite a bath in a few yrs time.Skater12 said:
Right, so you get £4000 worth of spec, for £1000.
Basically what they are saying is you can have a £3000 discount if you order a car in specs they chose for you.
Not exactly the deal of the century, considering you can go to a BMW dealership, spec up your car and haggle a bit and get a better deal, and could probably get exactly the same car, minus the engraved dash.
Exactly this - the last dealer I spoke to was offering £3k off new M3s and offering amazing £600 monthlies on finance.Basically what they are saying is you can have a £3000 discount if you order a car in specs they chose for you.

Hardly deal of the century, but then theyve gotta eat too.

What's the difference between that and Estoril (which I don't think they use any more)?
Santorini is a deeper blue, and Estoril has a more metallic pigment to it... Santorini seems almost solid (at least in BMW applications).Estoril was much nicer.. They should bring it back...
It's THE M colour IMHO......
Estoril BLUE is now available on new 3 Series M Sport models...

What's high gloss shadow line when it's at home?
Shiny black bits of trim instead of chromed bits of trim. The M Sport BMWs certainly do.....so actually perhaps BMW are telling us something between the lines...
Actually nobody really cares!
