I needed a car for a few days of client meetings around the South and South East. I booked a regular "mid size" - Mondeo / Passat equivalent. I got an upgrade - what a result!

Not bad for £23/day!

Only problem was that I was forced to use the local pay and displays and walk to the client offices. I simply couldn't turn up in a £70k limo!

Car was amazing - 250bhp and 460 lb/ft of torque.

You might want to edit out the CDP code as well.

Should have booked a few weddings and extended the hire.

Some work colleagues and I had a trip to the US, went early to take in a bit of Highway 1 for a few days. One of the blokes got an upgrade (with Hertz oddly). Went from a decidedly average Chrysler thing to a Lincoln Town Car in full OAP beige.

UPGRADE? Bloody hateful car that was a nightmare.... should have refused it!

But an S-class for Fiesta money? Bloody result if you ask me!

I once turned up at Barcelona airport to be offered a free upgrade to a sportscar. We were heading for the Pyrenees so it seemed like a great idea, until she handed me the keys to a 1.4 Tigra cry

You must've charmed the person on the desk...

Puts mine totally in the shade: booked the smallest/cheapest car (C1/107/Aygo), received free upgrade to VW Passat TDI estate with DSG 'box. Quite glad given our intended 500-mile trip from Edinburgh to Cornwall.
