LPG profiteering
Discussion
i've just re-entered the world of LPG motoring, and it's fair to say prices have been hiked a fair bit since last time.
however, this has happened for all grades and all fuels, so fair enough. what doesn't seem to be fair is the difference between pump prices, and even worse between bulk prices and pump prices.
would i be correct in assuming that if i ordered 1000 litres of petrol or diesel, it would work out only a few pence cheaper per litre than pump prices?
bulk LPG can be had for about 52ppl, cheapest pump price is 70p and the most expensive 85p.
i was always led to believe there was little profit per litre for the retailer for fuel, maybe 3ppl. this clearly isn't the case for LPG though.

Is that bulk LPG with road duty paid?
The big issue with bulk petrol buys and storage is all the H&S and planning regulations for storing large quantities of flammable liquids....if at home. Basically a no go for most of us. Dieso is a diffenent issue but will still hit you with some of the above.
Yes it's cheaper...if you can skirt the red tape.

ah. didn't think duty would be different for road fuel/ heating. makes sense now though, like red diesel/ normal pump diesel. The big issue with bulk petrol buys and storage is all the H&S and planning regulations for storing large quantities of flammable liquids....if at home. still, the % difference in pump prices is ridiculous. no way asda and shell are getting their lpg 15p cheaper per litre than BP though.

The 52ppl is for home heating gas.however, this has happened for all grades and all fuels, so fair enough. what doesn't seem to be fair is the difference between pump prices, and even worse between bulk prices and pump prices.

I pay 75.9 now for "road" gas and every single penny of the difference is tax.
Still I could be buying petrol at £1.40 a litre!!
