Yea, it'll work, probably give a nice shine too.

It's not too far off the cutting compounds or Scratch remover.

Did take my car to one of those Kosovan hand car washes that are springing up everywhere once, he said he's shine the tyres and hoover it out for free. Fair enough I thought, hoovering went well as did the initial jet wash and soaping. Did have to wonder why he decided to "shine" the tyres with a rag that he sprayed some Mr Muscle on though.

Don't think it did any real damage at all and a few muddy puddles later and it really had lost any visual effect.

I once caught the Mrs. wiping the whole car down with window cleaner. She was sparying it on and wiping it dry to get rid of all the water marks that get left behind if you don't dry it.

Furniture polish is great on alloys, brake dust just wipes off.

Did he polish the paint? My dad used it for the brass pipes on his MG, that stuff would wreck paint!

Was commonly used in the days of cellulose & synthetic enamel.
I worked in a motor factors in the mid 70s & we used to sell a lot of it in 5 litre tins to the 'better quality' bodyshops. Finer cut than 'T'-cut.

With all the modern cutting compounds I've not heard of it being used for a long time, but I've just had a quick Google & there's a lot of info so it seems that some are still using it.

Over the years I've seen all sorts.

But my favourite has to be the old ladys cleaning their cars with a scourer. It really does get that stuck on bird crap off. And the lacquer. And some of the paint.

One of my friends, back in the day, was getting money for washing his grandmothers car. Asked her what to use and she said 'Just get a rag from under the sink'

I went around to see how he was getting on only to find out that he ahd washed half of the car using a brillow pad. He said he couldnt see the scratches it was leaving becasue of the soap that was covering them all!

Its old school but it works, bit like using T cut really.

Not sure if it works as well on new types of paint but if you have an older car with faded red or white paint get the brasso out and some elbow grease and you will have a lovely shiny car!
